QA Manager - Food Manufacturing

RPO Recruitment's client is looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to join their team in Klapmuts, Western Cape. This role is ideal for someone passionate about maintaining exceptional food safety and quality standards in a fast-paced production environment. It requires hands-on leadership, regulatory compliance expertise, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the Quality Assurance function in a food manufacturing environment

• Implement, manage, and audit food safety and quality systems (FSSC 22000, ISO 22000)

• Ensure compliance with local and international food safety legislation and regulatory requirements

• Manage and prepare for external audits (customer, third-party, regulatory)

• Promote continuous improvement initiatives across the QA function

• Conduct root cause analyses and implement sustainable corrective actions

• Champion adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP principles, and risk management protocols

• Foster a high-performance team culture with a focus on collaboration, efficiency, and excellence

Requirements:

• Tertiary Qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or related discipline (essential)

• Additional certification in Food Safety Management Systems (e.g. FSSC 22000, ISO 22000)

• Minimum 5 years of QA experience in a food manufacturing environment, including 2+ years in a management or supervisory role

• Proven experience managing external audits and maintaining QA systems

• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, GMP, HACCP, and risk management

• High attention to detail with a strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
