Purchasing Manager – Mining Industry – R1mil – R850k

RPO Recruitment’s client is urgently seeking the expertise of an Strategic Purchasing Manager in Gauteng. The successful candidate will lead the procurement/purchasing Category of the company and drive strategic sourcing and compliance within the business unit but also align to the group practices. They will also develop, implement and manage sourcing strategies in line with GI strategy to drive down cost without the jeopardy of quality and to strategically lead category management initiatives, to ensure that the company’s procurement processes are aligned with the overall business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of procurement principles and practices, with experience in a similar role in the mining industry. They will be responsible for managing a team of procurement professionals, and will be expected to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. They will also be expected to stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, and to continuously improve processes and procedures to ensure the company remains competitive. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for managing a budget of R1mil – R850k, and will be expected to achieve cost savings and process improvements through effective procurement practices. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, and will have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role. They will also be expected to have a relevant certification, such as a Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) certification.
