SurgeAero develops high-performance propulsion systems and UAV platforms for the next generation of unmanned aerial vehicles. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a test engineer who will develop, operate, and continuously improve our motor test stands.

Your Mission

You are responsible for the development and operation of our motor test stands. From instrumentation to data acquisition to test automation, you ensure that our test stands deliver precise, reliable, and reproducible results. Your analyses form the basis for important development decisions by our motor and aircraft engineers.

Tasks

• Development, setup, and commissioning of motor test stands including dynamometers, fuel supply systems, cooling systems, sensorics, and safety equipment.
• Selection, integration, and calibration of measurement and instrumentation systems for torque, speed, temperatures, pressures, fuel consumption, vibrations, and other measured values.
• Development and automation of test procedures as well as creation of software and scripts for control, data acquisition, and live monitoring (e.g. Python, LabVIEW or comparable tools).
• Planning and execution of test campaigns, including warm-up, performance, endurance, and load tests.
• Analysis and evaluation of measurement data as well as creation of robust test results and technical reports.
• Evaluation of measurement results including measurement uncertainty and derivation of technical recommendations.
• Tight collaboration with the teams from motor development and aircraft development to continuously optimize our products.

Qualification

Your Profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace Technology or a comparable qualification.
• Multiple years of practical experience in setting up or operating technical test stands.
• Fundamental knowledge of measurement and instrumentation technology, including sensorics, data acquisition, calibration, and metrology.
• Experience in automating test systems as well as programming skills in Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW or comparable technologies.
• Good knowledge of internal combustion engines, ideally two-stroke engines.
• Analytical, structured, and self-responsible working style with high quality awareness.
• Very good English language skills; German language skills are an asset.
