Process Engineer
Job description
MicroHarvest is a rapidly growing scale-up in Hamburg that will produce better, healthier, and tastier protein using microorganisms through a sustainable process. In doing so, MicroHarvest contributes to the sustainable solution of the global challenge of feeding the world's population. Look forward to a collegial and dynamic environment where you will collaborate with a team that has extensive experience in biotechnology, business, and product development.
Are you ambitious, hands-on, and excited about tasks with real potential rather than narrow boundaries? At MicroHarvest, you won't just support production – you'll help shape it. From production control with external partners to setting up our first industrial plant, this position offers exceptional ownership, visibility, and growth potential from day one. You will work closely with experienced leaders, gain deep insights into the scale-up of industrial biotechnology, and have the chance to develop into an important operational leader as the company grows. If you thrive in dynamic environments where structures are still being built and want to leave a tangible mark, we would love to hear from you.

- Monitor process performance, identify bottlenecks, and drive improvements in throughput, yield, quality, and robustness
- Resolve deviations and manage scaling challenges in close collaboration with internal and external teams
- Build in-depth knowledge of our industrial process and develop into the company's lead expert for large-scale production
In parallel: Preparation of our first industrial plant
- Support the planning, construction, and commissioning of MicroHarvest's first industrial production facility
- Work closely with the future site manager to translate process requirements into plant reality

- Ensure a strong operational focus in all project phases – from engineering to commissioning
Over time: Development towards a leadership role at the plant
- Become the right-hand person and deputy to the future plant manager
- Take on increasing responsibility in operations, process engineering, and plant readiness
- Help build the systems, discipline, and culture required for a high-performing production organization
- Develop towards becoming a deputy plant manager, with the prospect of taking on a more comprehensive leadership role at the site in the future
Requirements
