Project Engineer Development and Test Engineering (m/f/x)

Alveon MedTech GmbH is an innovative medical technology startup based in Ostfildern near Stuttgart. Our focus is on the development of medical inhalation systems. Since our founding in 2020, we have successfully developed a patent-protected basic technology. Currently, as part of a strategic partnership with one of the largest German companies in the medical cannabis market, we are working on the development and approval of the first doseable cannabis inhaler for the European market.

The decisive phase is now at hand: testing, verification, and approval. To this end, we are expanding our laboratory in Ostfildern and are looking for someone to take charge of test engineering there.

As a Project Engineer Development and Test Engineering, you will be responsible for our experimental and test setups: you will build them, conduct the experiments, evaluate them, and document them reliably. Your focus will clearly be in the laboratory and on the test bench. Additionally, you will design fixtures and components and build prototypes.

You will work directly with our CTO and Head of Development, in a small team with short communication lines. Purchasing and supplier qualification are handled by colleagues – you will provide the technical evaluation.

Tasks

Focus: Testing, Test Setup, and Laboratory

• Assembly, commissioning, and further development of test fixtures, measurement stations, and experimental setups
• Planning, execution, and evaluation of development and verification tests, including those for evaporation performance, dosing accuracy, temperature behavior, leak tightness, and service life
• Setup and support of measurement technology, including calibration and test equipment management
• Preparation, supervision, and evaluation of test campaigns at external laboratories and universities
• Creation of test plans, test protocols, test, and development reports

Additionally: Design and Prototyping

• Design of fixtures, adapters, and components in CAD
• Prototyping using 3D printing, as well as assembly, labeling, and traceability of samples
• Technical evaluation of components and materials made of ceramic, injection molding, and silicone
• Support for technical documentation according to MDR and ISO 13485

Qualification

To be successful in this position, you should bring the following:

• Completed technical degree (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Medical Engineering, Process Engineering, Physics) or technician qualification with relevant experience
• 5 years of professional experience in testing, test bench construction, or measurement technology
• Proficient use of measurement technology, as well as in the evaluation and presentation of experimental data
• Practical experience in CAD, for example with SolidWorks, Creo, or Fusion 360
• Strong hands-on mentality: you build yourself, measure yourself, and actively participate in the lab
• Careful, traceable documentation of your work
• High self-motivation, self-structuring, and sense of responsibility
• Quick comprehension, analytical thinking, and the willingness to deeply immerse yourself in technical and regulatory topics
• Willingness to work on-site in Ostfildern and for occasional assignments at partners and test laboratories
• Fluent German, proficient English (spoken and written)

Particularly advantageous are:

• Experience in the development of medical devices under EU-MDR
• Knowledge of quality standards ISO 9001 and ISO 13485
• Experience with aerosols, inhalation, thermodynamics, or fluid dynamics
• Knowledge of statistical experimental design and analysis, for example with Python, Minitab, or R
• Experience in a startup environment
