Job description

Alveon MedTech GmbH is an innovative medical technology startup based in Ostfildern near Stuttgart. Our focus is on the development of medical inhalation systems. Since our founding in 2020, we have successfully developed a patent-protected base technology. Currently, as part of a strategic partnership with one of the largest German companies in the medical cannabis market, we are working on the development and approval of the first dosable cannabis inhaler for the European market.

The crucial phase is now at hand: prototypes, tests, verification, and approval. For this, we are expanding our testing capacities in Ostfildern and with external partners and are looking for someone to be responsible for this area.

As a Project Engineer Development and Testing Technology, you will take on defined development areas with full responsibility for results – from conception through testing and prototyping to robust proof. You will be given goals, not instructions.

You will work directly with our CTO and Project Manager and ensure that the right prototypes are available for each milestone – coordinating colleagues and external partners for this purpose.

Tasks

Independent Work Packages:

  • Conception and implementation of defined development topics

  • Determination of procedure, scope, and termination criteria

  • Coordination with QM/Regulatory and external partners

  • Responsibility for deadlines for the provision of test setups, prototypes, and samples

Focus: Testing, Test Setup, and Laboratory

  • Setup, commissioning, and further development of testing devices, measuring stations, and test benches

  • Planning, execution, and evaluation of development and verification tests, including those for vaporization performance, dosing accuracy, temperature behavior, leak tightness, and service life

  • Setup and support of measuring technology, including calibration and test equipment management

  • Preparation, accompaniment, and evaluation of test campaigns at external laboratories and universities

  • Creation of test plans, test protocols, testing, and development reports

Additionally: Design and Prototyping

  • Design of fixtures, adapters, and components in CAD

  • Prototyping using 3D printing as well as setup, labeling, and traceability of samples

  • Technical evaluation of components and materials made of ceramic, injection molding, and silicone

  • Support for technical documentation according to MDR and ISO 13485

Qualification

To be successful in this position, you should bring the following:

  • Completed technical degree (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Medical Technology, Process Engineering, Physics) or technician qualification with relevant experience

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in a technical development environment, including several years in a self-responsible role

  • The ability to pragmatically decide how far a solution needs to go – and to justify it

  • Confident, presentable demeanor towards suppliers, testing laboratories, and universities

  • Confident use of measuring technology as well as the evaluation and presentation of test data

  • Careful, traceable documentation of your work

  • High self-motivation, self-structuring, and sense of responsibility

  • Quick comprehension, analytical thinking, and the willingness to delve deeply into technical and regulatory topics

  • Willingness to work on-site in Ostfildern as well as occasional assignments at partners and testing laboratories

  • Strong hands-on mentality: you set up, measure, and get involved yourself

  • Practical experience in CAD, for example with SolidWorks, Creo, or Fusion 360

  • Fluent German, proficient English (written and spoken)

Especially advantageous are:

  • Experience in the development of medical devices under EU-MDR

  • Knowledge of quality standards ISO 9001 and ISO 13485

  • Experience with aerosols, inhalation, thermodynamics, or fluid dynamics

  • Knowledge in statistical experimental design and evaluation, e.g., Python, Minitab, or R

Benefits

What we offer:

  • A product that will go through approval in the coming years – your test results will contribute to whether it works

  • Own areas of responsibility with decision-making power – and the prospect of developing this into sub-project management

  • Working at eye level in a small, versatile engineering team

  • Quick assumption of responsibility, high degree of creative freedom, and direct influence on product success

  • Short distances: development, laboratory, and prototype construction at one location instead of distributed coordination loops

  • A team that doesn't discuss AI tools but builds them

  • Flexible working hours, 30 days of vacation, permanent full-time employment

  • Mobile working for evaluation and documentation days by arrangement

Shape the future of medical technology in the field of inhalation with Alveon MedTech. If you're eager not just to calculate a device but to build it, measure it, and make it work, we look forward to your application – feel free to submit it informally with your CV and a short note on why this role suits you. We'll need certificates later.
