Utrecht is growing and this requires new solutions for social issues, such as greening, climate adaptation, and playing. The maintenance task is enormous. In the coming years, work will be done on large programs for replacing, renovating, and developing the management of public space. You can play an important role in these projects as a project manager.

Your tasks
As a project manager at the Stadsingenieurs of the municipality of Utrecht, you are actively involved in various projects, primarily in the field of maintenance and development management of public space. You lead project teams from Stadsingenieurs where different specialisms come together and guide external consulting firms. Depending on the phase of the project, you work with experts in the fields of design, infrastructure, construction, environment, budgeting, and more. You consult with internal clients, recognize different interests and bureaucratic sensitivities.

• You manage GWW projects (Grond, Weg en Waterbouw) with emphasis on maintenance and development management. This combination requires tactical action.
• You inventory the client's request, submit tenders, and ensure the setup of the project team.
• You are responsible for the implementation and handover to management.
• You advise the client on municipal processes and implement this where necessary, for example in the field of sustainability and healthy urban living.
• You consult with involved parties and apply participation where necessary.
• You take decisions within project frameworks.
• With your experience, both professionally and within the municipal context, you contribute to the development of your colleagues.

Your profile

• You have at least a completed HBO education and corresponding thinking level.
• You possess knowledge of civil engineering, primarily focused on maintenance, realization, and development management of GWW projects in an urban environment.
• You have at least 5 years of experience with projects in public space.
• You have knowledge of and experience with project-based creation and preferably hold an IPMA-certification C or B, Neerlands Diep, or a comparable education.
• You have demonstrable experience in dealing with sensitive bureaucratic issues, preferably at the municipal level.
