Job description
Nice to know (you)
- You manage projects in an environment where technology, operations, safety, and traveler interests constantly converge. This requires more than project coordination: you need to be able to discuss content and connect complex interests.
- The team is known for its technical sharpness and ownership. Colleagues help each other move forward, challenge contractors on quality and planning, and take responsibility for the collective result.
- At Schiphol, we work on innovation and improvement every day. This is how we keep the Netherlands moving and create thousands of jobs and opportunities for people.
Connecting your world
As a Construction/Infrastructure Project Manager, you will independently realize construction or infrastructure projects, combining technical content with strong project management to execute projects safely, controlled, and successfully. How you achieve this precisely? That's up to you. We trust the way you pursue goals with enthusiasm and determination, can convince others of your vision, and overcome obstacles with confidence. You will use your talents in:
- Leading construction or infrastructure projects from initiation to completion, where you are integrally responsible for scope, planning, budget, quality, risks, and decision-making within a complex, continuously operating airport environment.
- Steering progress and project results by translating technical issues, risks, and dependencies into concrete choices, control measures, and manageable project decisions for clients and stakeholders.
- Challenging contractors, engineers, advisors, and suppliers on planning, phasing, risks, feasibility, and quality. You understand the substantive context of construction and infrastructure projects and are therefore a solid conversational partner at the table.
- Connecting the diverse interests of operations, asset management, commerce, safety, and external partners, among others, so that projects remain feasible without losing sight of Schiphol's continuity.
- Identifying and managing risks, opportunities, and deviations before they impact planning, budget, or operations, and proactively reporting on these to clients and management.
You will work within Project Delivery, the central project organization of Schiphol Infrastructure, where construction and infrastructure projects are realized in an environment that operates 24/7. This role suits a project manager who speaks the language of contractors, engineers, and advisors, and can therefore discuss execution, risks, and planning substantively. You are not a specialist who dives deep into technology, nor a manager who only directs from a distance; the combination makes you successful.
You've got this
Schiphol connects your world. With the best people, we make travel safe and responsible. You contribute to this with your unique talents, such as how you ask smart questions, listen actively, empathize with others, and clearly set your goals and achieve them on time according to a good plan. In any case, for this position you have:
- A completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in construction, civil engineering, or a comparable technical field.
- At least 5 years of experience as a project manager in construction or infrastructure projects in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated experience in independently managing projects where you were integrally responsible for planning, budget, risks, quality, and stakeholder management.
- You understand the technical context of construction or infrastructure projects and are therefore a solid conversational partner for contractors, advisors, and engineers.
- Excellent command of the Dutch language.
You get this
- € 5231 to € 7257 gross per month (scale 12).
- A 13th month's salary.
- The possibility to work 4 x 9 hours for a 36-hour work week.
- An iPhone or Samsung. Your choice.
- A home-working allowance of € 3.00 net per day.
These are just a few of our employment conditions that come with this position (based on a 36-hour work week). Schiphol has even more to offer you. For a complete overview of all employment conditions, visit Employment Conditions - Working at Schiphol.
