As a Project Leader Civil Engineering at the municipality of Vlissingen, you are involved from the initial plans to the final handover. You will work on streets, sewers, new residential areas, and business parks that are used daily by thousands of people.

Your Civil Projects in Vlissingen

Vlissingen is a port city at the mouth of the Western Scheldt, with various districts, two characteristic villages Souburg and Ritthem, and plenty of spatial developments. This makes your work varied: one moment you are working on the redesign of a residential street, the next on the layout of a new residential area or a business park.

You will lead various civil engineering projects, such as:

• The redesign of streets and public spaces.
• The replacement of sewers and other underground infrastructure.
• Asphalt projects.
• Replacement and maintenance of quays, bridges, and other civil engineering structures.
• Area developments, new residential areas, and business parks.
• Projects related to climate adaptation and the energy transition.

From First Sketch to Visible Result

With us, you are responsible for the entire process: You don't just work on a part of a project, but remain involved from preparation and tendering to execution and handover to the public space managers.

This means that you:

• Translate project assignments into clear plans, contracts, and tender documents.
• Monitor time, quality, scope, and budget, and make adjustments in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with colleagues, residents, entrepreneurs, engineering firms, contractors, and administrators.
• Bring together different interests and ensure that decisions are also executable.

You do this together with a project team. You maintain the overview, ask the right questions, and ensure that plans actually become visible outside.

Are you currently working for a Civil Engineering and Infrastructure contractor, an engineering firm, or another government organization? Then this position offers you the opportunity to work on the client side and take responsibility for the entire project yourself. Your experience with the preparation, advice, or execution of civil engineering projects is precisely valuable here.

What We Offer You at the Municipality of Vlissingen

With us, you get the space to align your work with your life. You largely set your own working hours and work partly at home and partly at the office. You also receive space and budget for further personal development. And you can count on:

• A salary of up to € 5,624 gross per month in scale 10 and eventually up to € 6,022 in overflow scale 10a.
• An individual choice budget of 17.05%, which brings the total monthly amount at the maximum of scale 10 to approximately € 6,583 gross.
• Flexible working hours, hybrid working, a travel expense reimbursement, and an annual development budget.
• A temporary contract of 36 hours per week for one year, which we will convert to a permanent employment contract if you perform well.

What You Bring as a Project Leader Civil Engineering

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a comparable education.
• Experience with civil engineering projects and project-based work.

• A clear way of communicating with both technical and non-technical interlocutors.
• Curiosity, initiative, and the courage to ask critical questions.
