Job description

The Projects Directorate is looking for Senior Project Managers Asset Management for the Submarine replacement and ASWF projects.
You will ensure that complex defense systems remain deployable for years.

As a senior project manager asset management at Defense, you will ensure that new (weapon) systems are not only technically developed and delivered but can actually be used, maintained, and deployed throughout their entire lifecycle.

You translate the operational need into an integrated support solution. You connect technology, maintenance, logistics, training, personnel, data, infrastructure, and lifecycle costs. As a project manager asset management, you are responsible for managing the realization of the support system and are therefore an important advisor within complex materiel projects. With project teams, users, and industry, you influence the choices that determine how Defense will keep its materiel available for decades to come.

Your formal title is Manager Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Cat 1. You will work within the Projects Directorate of the Materiel & IT Command (COMMIT) on the projects for the replacement of Submarines and/or Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) frigates of the Royal Netherlands Navy.

As a Senior ILS Manager, you are responsible for the setup and assurance of the maintenance preparation of complex defense systems. You ensure that support and maintenance are part of the system from the design phase.

You will work within multidisciplinary project teams and are the connecting link between project management, technical specialists, users, maintenance organizations, suppliers, and international partners.

Your tasks include, but are not limited to:
• Developing and managing the ILS strategy within complex materiel projects;
• Translating operational needs into concrete requirements for support, maintenance, and lifecycle management;
• Advising project management on design choices, maintenance concepts, availability, and lifecycle costs;
• Drafting and monitoring the ILS Management Plan and associated activities;
• Organizing and managing multidisciplinary teams responsible for various aspects of maintenance preparation;
• Steering the realization of support resources such as maintenance concepts, spare parts, technical documentation, training, facilities, and IT support;
• Evaluating (or having evaluated) analyses, plans, and solutions from the perspective of future operations;
• Contributing to Life Cycle Cost analyses and improving the balance between investment, operating costs, and operational availability;
• Maintaining contact with national and international industry, user organizations, and Defense departments.
• You are not only responsible for delivering ILS products but primarily for realizing a future-proof support solution with which Defense can deploy its systems safely and effectively.

Job requirements

• A completed university degree (technical or business administration) or a comparable combination of education and experience;
• Extensive knowledge of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), Integrated Weapon System Management, and lifecycle management;
• Knowledge of asset management and the principles of ISO 55001;
• At least 8 years of demonstrable experience with project experience in (inter)national materiel projects or comparable complex technical projects;
• Experience in influencing stakeholders with different interests;
• Experience with collaboration between the client, user organization, and industry.
• Experience with Life Cycle Cost methodologies;
• Experience with complex technical systems and/or materiel projects;
• Experience with project-based work in a multidisciplinary environment.
