Project Manager - AI Consulting (m/f/d)

Why this role

Lucid Labs is a specialized consultancy for the German SME sector. We automate operational decisions using applied AI and our own platform, which is used productively by clients. Our pipeline is growing faster than our team. We are looking for someone to take over our client projects and grow into full responsibility for their own clients within the next twelve months.

We are particularly proud of our speed. From idea to pilot with the client, it takes us about a week. The leverage you identify in the workshop, the client tests as a prototype next week. Directly with management and without any layers in between.

However, the real reason for this role is different: Here you will become AI-native. You will learn not only to theoretically recommend AI solutions and present them on slides, but to build them yourself, and you will advise companies on exactly that. This is the skill that will determine which consultants are in demand in the coming years. And hardly any place will teach it to you faster than a team that builds what it advises on every week.

If you currently manage rollouts, implementations, or digitalization projects and manage more than you shape: This role is exactly for that.

Tasks

You will take over client projects: Discovery, workshops, ongoing implementation. In the first weeks together with someone who already knows how, afterwards alone. Several clients in parallel, with significantly more depth per client than in traditional consulting. You will report directly to the founder and work closely with our engineering team. This means decision-making paths of minutes, not weeks.

70% Client Work: You are the point of contact for your projects, usually directly for the management of our clients. Prepare and lead workshops, weekly calls, demos, scoping, translate requirements into engineering. Your benchmark: Your clients work measurably differently after a few weeks.

20% Prototyping: You will build initial prototypes yourself, using modern AI tools and without programming. This is the slide that works. You will learn how to do this with us — and it is the part of the role in which you will grow the fastest.

10% Pre-Sales & Scoping: Workshops are also a sales tool for us. You will help prepare opportunities, participate in proposal discussions, and over time take over follow-up potential with your existing clients.

And because we are in the startup phase: What you develop in your projects as templates, checklists, and processes will become the standard that the delivery team will work with afterwards.

Your first months

In the first 6–8 weeks, you will shadow ongoing projects, gradually take over individual workshops and calls, and learn our tools — not in a training session, but with real clients, with someone beside you. After about three months, you will lead 2–3 client projects yourself, with a sparring partner in the background. After six months, you will manage your clients alone and be able to do things you couldn't do at the beginning: take apart a process, build a prototype, guide a managing director through a decision.

Qualification

• 2–4 years of professional experience with client contact, for example as an Implementation or Onboarding Consultant in B2B SaaS, in Rollout or ERP consulting, in Digital or Process consulting, or as a Project Manager / Chief of Staff for digitalization projects in the SME sector
• Carried out at least one client project from kick-off to go-live, with your name on the result.
• Experience in being on the front lines yourself: workshops, training sessions, requirements gathering, or demos that you have prepared and led
• Structured way of working, even when no one tells you how the structure should look
• Fluent German and a full-time work permit for Germany. Our clients are German SMEs, workshops and calls are conducted in German.
• English is required at a solid working level, as tools and documentation are in English
• Technical curiosity: You try out new tools yourself. You already use ChatGPT or Claude regularly

What you don't need to bring: No computer science degree, no coding experience, no completed AI project, no consulting brand on your CV.

What we cannot teach: that you can command a room when you are on the front lines. And the curiosity to actively and value-creatingly use AI. We are less interested in where you start than in how quickly you move.

Plus, not a must: Own small builds with AI tools (Claude, n8n, Lovable), experience with clients from the SME sector, pre-sales experience, change management.

This role is not for you if: you prefer to plan projects for months before anything reaches the client. If you understand consulting as analysis and leave the implementation to others. If you need a ready-made role description and a defined process to get started. Or if you avoid client conversations rather than seek them out.

• Remote with Berlin as a base. You work wherever you want. On Wednesdays, we meet as a team at EDGE Coworking at Hauptbahnhof. Those who live further away come less often by arrangement, and those who like to work in the office can be there more often at any time.
