PROJECT DIRECTOR / GENERAL MANAGER (Building Contractor)

Seeking an experienced and commercially driven General Manager to lead the Building Operations division of an established A1 Main Contractor in Singapore. General Manager will be responsible for the overall operational and financial performance of the business unit, driving sustainable growth, profitability, project delivery excellence, and business development. Business & Operational Leadership Lead and oversee the overall operations of the Building Division, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Drive operational efficiency and productivity through effective resource allocation, process improvement, and technology adoption. Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the division. Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the division's business objectives and growth targets. Manage and mentor a team of professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Financial Management Oversee the financial performance of the Building Division, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and profitability analysis. Ensure robust financial reporting and compliance with company policies and accounting standards. Develop and implement strategies to enhance revenue generation and optimize cost structures. Business Development Lead and manage all business development activities for the Building Division, including identifying new opportunities, developing proposals, and securing new contracts. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders. Drive the expansion of the division's market share and client base. Project Delivery Excellence Ensure successful execution of all building projects, from inception to completion. Implement effective project management methodologies and best practices. Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies. Ensure client satisfaction and achieve project delivery KPIs. People Management Lead, motivate, and develop the team within the Building Division. Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and provide career development opportunities. Foster a positive and engaging work culture. Qualifications and Experience: Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., General Manager, Director, Head of Operations). Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale building projects from start to finish. Strong commercial acumen and a deep understanding of financial management, budgeting, and cost control. Excellent business development and client relationship management skills. Demonstrated experience in driving business growth and profitability. Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Professional qualifications (e.g., PMP, MRICS) will be an advantage. Familiarity with Singapore's construction regulations and practices is essential. A1 contractor experience is a strong advantage.
