Job description
PROGRAMMING TECHNICIAN - CNC OPERATIONS
- Programming and configuration:
- Generate and edit CNC programs using CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, WORKNC, SolidWorks, etc.) from plans or 3D models.
- Configure and prepare CNC machines, including selecting and mounting cutting tools, fixturing, and holding devices.
- Program at the machine when necessary, especially for controls like Fanuc and Heidenhain.
- Quality and inspection:
- Interpret manufacturing plans, technical drawings, and geometric and dimensional tolerances (GD&T).
- Inspect the first piece and produced parts to verify they meet quality and functional specifications, using precision measurement tools.
- Optimization and maintenance:
- Optimize CNC programs to improve cycle times and part quality.
- Collaborate in preventive machine maintenance, such as reviewing fluid levels, to ensure optimal performance.
- Record program and maintenance activity logs.
- Education:
- Tech school degree in Machines and Tools, Mechatronics, Mechanics or similar.
- Knowledge of geometry, algebra, and trigonometry.
- Experience:
- Prior experience of 2 to 5 years in CNC programming and operations, preferably in the automotive, metalworking, or mold-making industries.
- Tech skills:
- Mastery of CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, SolidWorks, etc.).
- Experience in CNC programming for milling and turning, including 3, 4, and 5-axis machines.
- Able to interpret manufacturing plans and knowledge of GD&T.
- Familiarity with various materials, cutting tools, and holding devices.
