Programme Lead - Master of Teaching (Secondary)
Job description
Whitecliffe is seeking an experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Initial Teacher Education (Secondary) to lead programme development up to NZQA and NZTC panel stages for a new Master of Teaching (Secondary), Level 9, 180 credits with support of our core team. The ideal SME will bring deep expertise in secondary curriculum, culturally sustaining pedagogy, and practice-integrated ITE models relevant to Aotearoa New Zealand. About the Role The SME will lead on programme coherence, curriculum development, and ensuring that the Master of Teaching (Secondary) meets NZQA and NZTC requirements. This role is critical in shaping the direction of our new programme and ensuring it aligns with Whitecliffe's strategic goals. Key Responsibilities: • Lead the development of the Master of Teaching (Secondary) programme, including programme coherence, curriculum design, and assessment strategies. • Collaborate with the core team to ensure that the programme meets NZQA and NZTC requirements. • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including academic staff, students, and external partners. • Provide expert advice on secondary curriculum, culturally sustaining pedagogy, and practice-integrated ITE models relevant to Aotearoa New Zealand. • Contribute to the development of a diverse and inclusive learning environment that values Māori perspectives and experiences. • Participate in programme evaluation and review processes to ensure continuous improvement. About You The ideal candidate will have: • A Master's degree or higher in Education, Curriculum Studies, or a related field. • Significant experience in Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and/or secondary teaching. • Expertise in secondary curriculum, culturally sustaining pedagogy, and practice-integrated ITE models relevant to Aotearoa New Zealand. • Strong leadership and project management skills. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
