Program Manager Lifts and Escalators

This is what you will do

For the realization of large-scale infrastructural improvements within GVB, we are looking for a program manager. You will work on the existing program:

• Large-scale replacement of lifts and escalators within the metro network

In the coming years, extensive replacement tasks will be carried out at various metro stations, including Spaklerweg, RAI, and Overamstel. Lifts, escalators, and other assets will be renewed and repaired.

As a program manager, you are responsible for achieving the program objectives. You maintain control over the coherence within the program, oversee dependencies within GVB and in the external playing field, and anticipate developments that may affect progress. You organize timely decision-making, ensure an effective consultation structure, and guarantee up-to-date and reliable steering information so that the program remains manageable and on course.

You work closely with internal and external partners, including construction contract managers, project managers, the municipality of Amsterdam, the Vervoerregio Amsterdam, and Verkeer en Openbare Ruimte.

What you bring

You maintain an overview in complex situations and switch effortlessly between strategy and execution. You are solution-oriented, decisive, and remain calm under pressure. • University work and thinking level.
• At least 10 years of experience as a program manager in infrastructure or the rail sector.
• Demonstrable experience with complex and (European) tendering processes.
• Demonstrable experience in managing extensive project portfolios.
• A strong personality that interacts at all levels, from technical specialists to (municipal) administrators.
• Excellent communication skills and a good understanding of political and administrative relationships.

• The position of Program Manager is classified in scale 13, starting at € 5,941,- and up to € 7,823,- gross per month based on 36 hours. The salary scale depends on education and relevant work experience.

Your team

You will work within the GVB Project Office, functionally in the Stations team, a team of approximately 15 colleagues. In total, the Project Office has about 90 employees.

As a program manager, you will work independently on your project, but always in connection with the team. Think of IPM teams, project managers, and environmental managers. Externally, you will work with public and administrative stakeholders, such as regional governments and policy organizations, and with executing market parties, including contractors and engineering firms.
