What you will do
You will be working at the Materiel and Logistics Command (MatlogCo), which is responsible for the maintenance and logistics of all ground-based materiel. Due to the growth of the Dutch Armed Forces, the number of ground-based weapon systems and other necessities is rapidly increasing. To work smarter and faster, a major transition towards more data-driven work is crucial. Given the significant importance of this scaling up, 'data-driven working & decision-making' has been designated as one of the four strategic themes of MatlogCo.
As a Data Program Manager, you will be jointly responsible for the project-based steering and execution of data-driven working and decision-making within the materiel, logistics, and financial domain.
This challenging task focuses on the following goals:
- Enabling the organization to work and make decisions based on reliable data and insights that are directly accessible:
- Strengthening the data foundation (management, standards, quality).
- Increasing data expertise within the organization.
- Optimizing data-driven steering.
- Innovating with data technology: Applying innovative technologies within MatlogCo, such as predictive logistics, maintenance, and damage models, and the use of AI.

Your role and responsibilities
As a Data Program Manager, you are integrally responsible for the realization of the roadmap with milestones for this strategic theme. You connect strategy, the multi-year roadmap, execution, capacity, and progress. Furthermore, you proactively advise the Management Team client on progress, necessary choices, and adjustments.
Your main tasks:
- Managing and guiding project teams and organizing collaboration between the various links involved in realizing the roadmap;
- Achieving the intended program results and steering progress;
- Managing the roadmap and backlog; proposing quarterly results; organizing collaboration; monitoring progress, capacity, risks, and effects; preparing decision-making; supporting and holding teams accountable;
- Reporting and advising the MatlogCo Management Team.

From 2025 onwards, Defence employees will no longer receive holiday pay and year-end bonus as separate payments, but will accrue them monthly through the Individual Choice Budget (IKB). The IKB for Defence employees amounts to a total of 16.33 percent of the salary. With the IKB, Defence employees can decide for themselves when, on what, and how much budget they spend on time, money, or fiscal facilities. This can be up to the maximum of the monthly accrued budget. The IKB can be used for:
- A maximum of 15 percent of the salary can be used monthly for the exchange of the commuting allowance.
- The monthly difference between the allowance for the costs of private transport for commuting and the fiscal maximum.
- A bicycle for personal use, including bicycle accessories and bicycle insurance.
- A computer that can also be used for work or study, including computer accessories and computer insurance.
- A battery or electrical components for a bicycle.
- The payment of union membership fees.
- The Ministry of Defence expects to further expand the possibilities of the IKB in the future.
Special Provisions
- A security screening (VGB) is part of the application process.
- It is mandatory for you, as a civilian applicant, to have Dutch nationality. Being able to provide a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) is a condition for appointment. Furthermore, a security screening and reference check may be part of the selection procedure. This involves a background check on, among other things, criminal records and financial matters, which takes an average of 8 weeks.
