Are you passionate about shaping first-year students, and delivering teaching that truly makes an impact? The Tertiary Foundation Certificate (TFC) team is looking for a Professional Teaching Fellow to join our vibrant, student-focused community.

Based at our City Campus, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the academic journeys of learners from diverse backgrounds — all while working with a collaborative, warm, and dedicated team.

Ngā Haepapa Matua | Key Responsibilities (not limited too):

As a PTF in TFC Maths, you’ll be at the heart of:

  • Teaching foundation-level mathematics that prepares students for a wide range of undergraduate pathways
  • Shaping course content and assessments
  • Using innovative teaching approaches to enhance student learning
  • Supporting students one-on-one, helping them build confidence and capability
  • Contributing to a strong team culture, well-connected across the Department of Mathematics and the TFC programme

This is a part-time (32 hrs per week), 12-month fixed-term role

Teaching Hours:

  • MON - 10am -12noon & 1pm – 3pm          
  • TUES - 10am -12noon
  • WED - 10am -12noon & 4pm -6pm
  • THU - 10am -12noon
  • FRI - 12noon -1pm & 2pm-3pm & 4pm-5pm

The remuneration is between $103,717 - $125,554 per annum, dependent on skills and experience (pro-rated)

The ideal candidate holds an MSc or higher degree in a relevant discipline and possesses a recognised teaching qualification, with experience teaching mathematics in secondary settings. They are confident in coordinating courses and using a learning management system (e.g., Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard), and they enjoy working with learners at varying levels and from diverse backgrounds. This person communicates clearly, collaborates effectively, and brings a positive, student-centred energy to their work. They are also keen to innovate, adapt, and embrace new technologies.
