Production Manager

A leading packaging company is looking for an experienced Production Manager with strong experience in manufacturing operations, process optimisation, and team leadership to join their team in Cape Town. This company specialises in advanced moisture control solutions, securement products, and bulk liquid packaging for industries such as agricultural commodities, food & beverage, chemicals, and logistics.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all production operations, ensuring targets, quality standards, and delivery timelines are consistently achieved.

• Develop and manage production schedules, coordinate workflow, and optimise resource utilisation for maximum efficiency.

• Monitor and analyse key performance indicators such as yield, waste, downtime, and output to drive continuous improvement.

• Implement and maintain production processes aligned with best practices in lean manufacturing and operational excellence.

• Lead, motivate, and develop production teams to foster a culture of accountability, quality, and safety.

• Collaborate with maintenance, procurement, quality, and logistics teams to ensure seamless production flow and operational stability.

• Manage production budgets, monitor costs, and contribute to strategic planning and capital improvement projects.

• Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Mechanical/Operations Engineering, Production/Operations Management, or a related field — mandatory.

• Proven experience in a production management role within a packaging or related manufacturing environment.

• Strong leadership and communication skills with a track record of managing multidisciplinary teams.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on efficiency and quality.

• Solid understanding of production processes, scheduling, and lean manufacturing methodologies.

• Commitment to operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.
