Job description

Product Manager - Categories (h/f/x)

Location: Paris, France

Domain: E-Commerce Solutions — Navigation & Categories

ABOUT DECATHLON & THE E-COMMERCE DOMAIN

Decathlon is accelerating its digital transformation with the mission to become the digital sports platform that allows our customers to discover our world through local, sport-focused, and omnichannel experiences.

Our Mission: To move people through sport to make well-being accessible to everyone.

By joining this area, you will work within the E-Commerce Solutions domain. Our teams transform and deploy global e-commerce navigation, catalog hierarchies, and back-end categorization engines aimed at facilitating discovery and access to Decathlon's entire offering (products, services, and information).

JOIN THE CATEGORIES SQUAD

Reporting to the Group Product Manager (E-Commerce / Navigation), you will take responsibility for the Categories squad. You will work alongside a dedicated engineering team (Tech Lead, Senior Software Engineers) and in close collaboration with UX Researchers, Product Designers, Data Analysts, Sports Digital Merchandisers, as well as local E-Commerce teams in various countries.

  • Product Vision: Foster discovery through intelligent and scalable navigation. We are building an intuitive, automated, and personalized navigation journey to enable every customer to find what they need and desire more quickly.
  • Target Objective: Stimulate global conversion and generate incremental revenue by transforming fragmented local hierarchies into a unified and high-performing Core Navigation on the web and mobile.

YOUR MISSIONS

Product Vision & Strategy

  • Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Categories & Core Navigation ecosystem.
  • Lead and arbitrate key product initiatives: Core Navigation (standardization of hierarchies globally) and SKU-level Categorization Engines (such as our streaming engine Tesseract).
  • Align stakeholders (central sports teams, global digital merchandising, country teams) around shared operational models.

Discovery & Governance

  • Continuously identify user, SEO, and business opportunities through data analysis, user testing, and card-sorting studies.
  • Establish a continuous and consistent A/B testing process to refine business convictions and identify the best growth opportunities.
  • Balance global standardization with the flexibility needed for local markets, ensuring the smooth migration of local hierarchies to the global Core Trees.
  • Establish decision-making frameworks and clear SLAs for global taxonomy, SEO governance, and category creation.

Delivery & Technical Alignment

  • Lead agile delivery in close partnership with the Tech Lead and the squad's developers.
  • Prioritize and refine the backlog (epics, user stories) to support multi-level export flows, batch orchestration tools, and the execution of taxonomic rules.
  • Oversee key migration milestones for countries adopting the Core Navigation framework on desktop and mobile.

Data & Performance

  • Define and track navigation success metrics, including PDP Reach Rate, Revenue per Session, Menu Usage CTR, and Conversion by Category.
  • Leverage data analysis to optimize category performance, eliminate inactive categories, and rationalize taxonomic filters.
  • Organize and prioritize the backlog based on clear and reliable data.

Product Culture & Mindset

  • Embody a role of ambassador for product excellence and taxonomy standards within Decathlon's international network.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment based on trust, accountability, and user centricity.

PROFILE REQUIRED

  • Experience: 3 to 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager in a B2C e-commerce, digital platform, or catalog/search ecosystem environment.
  • Domain Expertise: Excellent understanding of e-commerce navigation, catalog hierarchies, taxonomy/data structures, or search & discovery platforms.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to navigate and align complex international and multi-functional organizations (tech teams, merchandisers, country e-commerce managers).
  • Product Methodology: Mastery of the end-to-end product development cycle — from discovery (UX research, data, A/B testing) to delivery (backlog refinement, technical roadmap, deployment).
  • Analytical Mindset: Data-driven approach to prioritize features and measure impact on conversion and user experience.
  • Languages & Communication: Fluent in English and French (spoken and written), with excellent summarization skills.
  • Passion: Curiosity for solving large-scale architecture/data problems, user-centered design, and a strong passion for sports!

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Flexible Remote Work: 2 days of remote work per week.
  • Work Location: Based at our Decathlon Digital offices in Paris, France.
  • Choice of Equipment: Work on your preferred equipment (Mac, Windows, Chromebook).
  • Impact & Evolution: High-impact role at the heart of Decathlon's global e-commerce engine, offering mentorship, certifications, and international career opportunities.
  • Financial Benefits: Employee shareholding, monthly and quarterly bonuses.
