Responsibilities

Production Oversight

  • Make decisions (based on assessed risk and cost impact) that affect the quality, delivery, or cost of products (escalating to Senior Manager of Product Manufacturing or Value Stream Lead where necessary).
  • Make quality decisions or recommendations based on the data with the customer’s best interests in mind.

Production Planning and Process Management

  • Review product designs, determine manufacturing processes and the order of processes, then generate work orders.
  • Proactively ensure all materials are ordered and on track to meet the customer cost, delivery, and technical requirements as agreed to by manufacturing.
  • Interact with suppliers to ensure the materials provided will generate a product that meets the customer specification and requirements.

  • Support the development of associated production schedules, forecasts, and risk management plans and distribute them to all departmental representatives to ensure clear project communication.

Costing and Performance Improvement

  • Understand the job costing reports and estimates and provide inputs used to create them; use this information to improve manufacturing performance on repeat orders.
  • Complete post-production lesson-learned exercises and identify opportunities for future improvements where possible.

Communication and Coordination

  • Responsible for all communication between customers, suppliers, logistics, sales (or business development), and Manufacturing that affect the quality, cost, or delivery timing.
