Procurement and Contracts Manager (Major Projects)

Description About the Role We are seeking a Procurement & Contracts Manager to lead high‑value, high‑complexity, and high‑risk procurement activities across major infrastructure projects ($500m–$1bn) in the utilities sector. With a focus on large scale transmission lines and substations capital works, this role is pivotal in shaping sourcing and contracting strategy during bids, tenders, and mobilisation phases. Reporting to the Sourcing & Contracting Director , you will drive procurement strategy and contract management, ensuring compliance and best-practice principles are applied. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement procurement strategies for major projects, aligning with business objectives and risk profiles. Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including market analysis, sourcing, tendering, evaluation, negotiation, contract award, and contract management. Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, providing guidance and support. Collaborate with project teams, engineering, legal, and finance to ensure effective procurement and contract management. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders. Ensure compliance with relevant procurement policies, procedures, and legal requirements. Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks. Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes and practices. Prepare and present procurement reports and updates to senior management. Skills and Experience Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, engineering, law). Minimum of 8 years' experience in procurement and contract management, with a focus on major infrastructure projects. Proven experience in leading complex procurement processes, including high-value contracts. Strong knowledge of procurement principles, best practices, and legal requirements. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong relationships with stakeholders. Experience in the utilities sector is highly desirable. Experience with large scale transmission lines and substations capital works is highly desirable.
