Privacy Officer

For Erasmus University Rotterdam, we are looking for a Privacy Officer. You will work as a Privacy Officer on a broad range of tasks focused on education, research, business operations, IT, and digitalization. Thanks to your connecting skills, colleagues from a faculty, institute, or central department can quickly find you with their questions about privacy and data protection. Your expertise and creativity help them make risks manageable. When you signalize risks yourself, you take proactive action. You actively think about improving processes and the strategic vision on privacy and data protection. You ensure that privacy always comes higher on the agenda.

Do you encounter a complex question? Then you can daily spar with colleagues from the privacy team (Chief Privacy Officer, Privacy Officers, and Privacy Lawyers) and the Data Protection Officer. You are part of a large community of colleagues who, like you, are enthusiastic about privacy. Within the privacy team, you will have ample space to develop your own expertise. Contribute to the development and implementation of the multi-year privacy program, privacy year plan, Privacy Policy, privacy governance, guidelines, procedures, and work instructions. Advise researchers within ethical review on issues related to privacy, such as (informed) consent, processing of special personal data, and cooperation with third parties. (Co-) develop expert training for various target groups. Participate in projects with colleagues from, for example, procurement, information security, data stewards, or data analysts. Actively participate in the periodic meeting of the privacy team, where diverse and organization-wide privacy-related issues are discussed.
Your profile

• You have at least a completed bachelor's degree in Law, ICT (such as Informatics, Information Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Data Science), or a comparable study.
• You possess deep knowledge of relevant privacy regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Dutch Data Protection Act (Wet bescherming persoonsgegevens).
• You have at least three years of experience as a Privacy Officer, preferably in a large organization.
• You hold an IAPP certification (CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT) or are willing to obtain it within a short period.
• Knowledge of current developments in the field of IT and Artificial Intelligence related to data protection and privacy is a plus.
• You possess good communication skills in Dutch and English (minimum B2 level CEFR).
• You have a result-oriented attitude and a strong analytical and management-sensitive ability to turn bottlenecks into opportunities for improvement.
• You work well together in a team, easily establish connections, and stimulate cooperation.
• You know how to handle resistance and are a self-starter who is proactive and initiative-taking.
• You direct clearly and effectively and escalate when necessary.
• Knowledge of quality awareness and pragmatism comes naturally to you.
