Job description
Cvent is looking for a Principal Site Reliability Engineer to help us scale our systems and ensure stability, reliability and performance and rapid deployments of our platform. As a Principal Engineer, you will demonstrate both emerging and current technical expertise, while also providing guidance and mentorship to other team members. You will be responsible for defining and implementing best practices in the areas of monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, incident management, and automation. You will be expected to work with development, product, and operations teams to drive improvements to our platform and processes. You will be hands on, working with the latest technology in cloud based infrastructure. What You Will Be Doing: * Design and implement infrastructure solutions in cloud environments. * Drive automation of infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment. * Develop and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues. * Participate in on-call rotation to respond to and resolve incidents. * Collaborate with development teams to improve application performance and reliability. * Perform capacity planning and performance tuning. * Define and enforce best practices for site reliability engineering. * Mentor and guide other team members. What You Need to Be Successful: * Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. * 10+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or a related role. * Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). * Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation). * Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet). * Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog). * Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). * Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash). * Strong understanding of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing). * Excellent communication and collaboration skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Bonus points: * Experience with CI/CD pipelines. * Experience with security best practices. * Experience with database technologies. * Experience with big data technologies.
