Principal Review Officer

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a Principal Review Officer for a Local Authority Client in North London.

In this role, you will lead and manage statutory reviews and appeals for homelessness and housing applications, ensuring decisions are legally compliant, fair, and clearly communicated.

Duties:

• Oversee homelessness and housing application reviews, including medical assessments, appeals, and temporary accommodation decisions.
• Determine outcomes, write clear, legally compliant decision letters, and communicate effectively with applicants and their representatives.
• Ensure all decisions comply with legislation, council policy, case law, and best practice, including advising Legal Services and attending court if required.
• Maintain accurate records, monitor performance, provide guidance and training to staff, and implement process improvements.

Qualifications and Experience:

The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:

• Extensive experience working with social housing applications and supporting homeless individuals.
• Experience with legal procedures, reviews, and court-related processes.
• Experience working in multi-racial, inner-city environments.
• Proven ability to make sound decisions, apply legislation, and contribute to housing policy and service development.

What's on offer:

Salary: £33ph

*may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience*

Contract type: 3-6 months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension

Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
