Cape Town, South Africa | Posted on 02/06/2026 The Principal Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of IBM's largest and most complex SAP HANA Enterprise Application projects, ensuring alignment with client business and IT requirements. This role involves managing client engagements, leading project teams, and delivering solutions according to project charters, agreements, or contracts. The Principal Project Manager provides strategic leadership, manages risks, oversees resource allocation, and ensures effective communication among stakeholders. Key responsibilities include: • Developing and maintaining project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. • Coordinating with cross-functional teams, including sales, delivery, and support to ensure successful project execution. • Collaborating with clients to understand their business needs and develop solutions that meet those needs. • Managing project risks, issues, and changes, ensuring timely and cost-effective resolution. • Providing regular status updates to stakeholders, including clients, sponsors, and internal teams. • Ensuring compliance with IBM's policies, procedures, and standards. The Principal Project Manager will work closely with the Delivery Management Office (DMO) to ensure alignment with project management methodologies and best practices. This role requires a strong understanding of SAP HANA Enterprise Application projects, as well as experience in managing complex IT projects. The ideal candidate should have: • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. • At least 8 years of experience in project management, with at least 3 years of experience in managing large-scale IT projects. • Strong understanding of SAP HANA Enterprise Application projects and their business value. • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. • Experience working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
