Principal Product Manager*in Claims (w/m/d)
Job description
We Expected
As a Principal Product Manager*in Claims, you will be responsible for the technical and strategic direction of one of our most critical areas: Claims Processes (Claims). You will shape not only individual features but also long-term product strategy, system architecture, and decision-making logic around claims processing for insurers.
In concrete terms:
- Product Strategy & Ownership: You develop a sustainable product strategy for the Claims area, are responsible for large-scale product initiatives end-to-end, and make long-term architectural and process decisions that are both regulatory and economically viable.
- Prioritization & Methodology: You prioritize strategic themes over several quarters and apply Product Management methods (e.g. PRDs, Story Mapping, Continuous Discovery, Opportunity Solution Trees, and common prioritization frameworks) deliberately and data-driven to balance business goals, technical feasibility, and operational excellence.
- Senior-Level Discovery & Business Decisions: You conduct complex discovery processes independently – including user research with claims experts, departments, and operational teams – lead informed product decisions, and evaluate these using business cases (e.g. automation rate vs. process costs) and economic analyses.
- Tech Design & Domain Expertise: You work closely with Engineering on architecture, system design, interfaces, data models, and workflows, make informed decisions about scalability, maintainability, and domain-driven architecture, and serve as a technical sparring partner for Senior PMs, Engineering Leads, and stakeholders.
What You Bring
- Experience: At least 8 years of experience in product management, with a significant portion in the insurance industry, ideally with a clear focus on claims / claims processes.
- Deep Domain Expertise: A deep understanding of claims processes, claims processing, automation, rules, exceptions, and operational realities in everyday insurance life.
- Strategic Thinking & Decision-Making Strength: Proven experience in long-term product planning, making heavy prioritization decisions, and consciously taking trade-offs, ideally with products with at least 1 million ARR.
- Technical Understanding: A very good understanding of modern software architectures, APIs, workflows, and data models; the ability to evaluate technical concepts and discuss them on an equal footing with Engineering. Technical background is advantageous.
- Communication: Very good German and English language skills (at least C1) in both spoken and written form.
What We Offer
- Individual Development Opportunities through clearly defined goals and responsibilities, as well as a training budget of 500 EUR per year
- Hybrid Work Model with the option to work remotely, in our office in Berlin Mitte, or from home
- Compensation Package of 90,000-110,000 EUR annual salary plus attractive additional benefits such as company pension and VSOP for your share of the company's success
