Principal Generative AI Engineer (m/w/d) - Switzerland

Your Tasks

Data and AI are your home? Your new challenge will look like this:

• Responsibility for designing, building, and continuously developing prototypes, use cases, and technical concepts around Generative AI, modern data platforms, and cloud solutions.
• Comprehensive consulting of our customers in shaping future-proof Data- & AI-strategies – from architecture to technical enablement to stable production operation.
• Design, implementation, and further development of scalable data architectures and cloud-based data warehouse solutions (e.g., on Azure or AWS).
• Ensuring high quality standards in projects, particularly in the areas of prompt design, model evaluation, data science, and validation of AI results.
• Technical leadership or active participation in projects with a focus on AI architectures, end-to-end workflows, and operating foundation models (locally or in the cloud).
• Building and conducting internal training formats as well as actively transferring knowledge to strengthen our expertise in Generative AI and modern data platforms.
• Ongoing exploration, testing, and evaluation of new tools, APIs, and frameworks (e.g., OpenAI, Hugging Face, Aleph Alpha) in areas such as NLP, Conversational AI, Diffusion Models, or Transformer architectures.
• Presence in the professional community through participation in conferences, meetups, and events, as well as through presentations, demos, or technical publications.
• Technical support for Sales and Marketing, e.g., through architecture concepts, technical arguments, or participation in customer presentations.
• Active involvement in building our Swiss location in close cooperation with management and sales.

Your Profile

Data is also in your DNA? That's what you should bring:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in the field of computer science, data science, mathematics, or a comparable technical-natural scientific major.
• Multiple years of professional experience (at least 5 years) in implementing data-, analytics-, or AI-solutions, ideally in a project- or consulting-based environment.
• Excellent communication skills in German, Swiss German, and English.
• Fundamental practical experience with Generative-AI approaches as well as a solid understanding of foundation models (e.g., GPT, LLaMA, Claude) including fine-tuning strategies.
• Excellent Python knowledge (object-oriented), ideally supplemented by experience with Spark and relevant open-source frameworks (e.g., HuggingFace, LangChain).
• Experience working with AI- and LLM-APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Aleph Alpha, HuggingFace) as well as basic knowledge in NLP, probabilistic models, Conversational AI, and Diffusion techniques.
• Deep understanding of modern cloud infrastructure (Azure or AWS) as well as knowledge of deployment-, CI/CD- and MLOps processes.
• Bonus points: Experience operating open-source models on-premise, on specialized accelerators, or in the context of physical computing.
• Outstanding communication strength and joy in working with customers, teams, and the tech community.
• Self-reliant, solution-oriented work style as well as willingness to take responsibility and project-related travel.
