Principal Engineer – Safety & Environmental Engineering (Control Damage Hazards)

Salary: Competitive What you’ll be doing: Provide technical leadership as a subject matter expert in safety engineering Mentor and develop engineers, guiding safety analysis and influencing design decisions Analyse and influence nuclear submarine design using safety engineering principles. This will include: Developing, maintaining and validating safety cases, including the hazard analysis and the demonstration of ALARP (as low as reasonably practicable). Identifying and assessing hazards. Undertaking and leading hazard analysis and risk assessments. Producing and reviewing safety related documentation. Supporting the development and maintenance of safety standards and guidance. Ensuring compliance with nuclear safety regulations and company policies. Developing and delivering training to colleagues. The skills you’ll need: You will have a degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear) or a related discipline. Experience in safety engineering, preferably in a high-hazard industry. A strong understanding of safety principles and hazard analysis techniques. Experience in developing safety cases and demonstrating ALARP. Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
