Principal Engineer – Human Factors

Job Title: Principal Engineer – Human Factors Location: UK Wide (Hybrid) Salary: Negotiable (Commensurate with skills and experience) What you’ll be doing: Assessing risks of human error and providing Human Factors advice Performing task analysis Working with Process authors to improve procedures to reduce risk of unintended outcomes Representing Human Factors at design technical reviews Conducting design substantiation reviews Supporting Safety Case delivery Leading Human Factors programmes of work Providing Human Factors support to projects and programmes Mentoring and coaching more junior Human Factors practitioners What we’re looking for: Degree qualified in a relevant discipline (e.g. Human Factors, Ergonomics, Psychology) Chartered or working towards Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIEHF) Experience of working in a highly regulated industry (e.g. Nuclear, Defence, Aviation) Proven experience of providing Human Factors support through the full project lifecycle Ability to produce high-quality technical reports and other written deliverables Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams Ability to obtain and maintain UK security clearance (if required) Desirable skills/experience: Experience of working in the Nuclear industry Experience of applying Human Factors principles to engineering design Experience of undertaking Human Reliability Analysis (HRA) Experience of supporting the delivery of Safety Cases Benefits: Competitive salary 25 days holiday + bank holidays Pension scheme Life assurance Flexible benefits package
