Internship / Working Student Founder's Associate FP&A (m/f/d) - Berlin - German C2 required

YOU WILL HAVE COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE COMPANY'S NUMBERS.

Each heat pump we install costs between 35,000 and 40,000 Euros. You will build the first real financial control system behind it and present it to the three founders once a month. In the CEO Office, alongside other Founder's Associates who are just as hungry as you.

Heizmüller installs heat pumps in old buildings in Berlin. 24 units per month. In the first year, from zero to 1.2 million Euros in monthly revenue. Bootstrapped. No investor money to cover up mistakes. Office in Alt-Moabit.

Before you read on: This is an internship or a working student position, on-site in Berlin, and it's only in German. C2 or native speaker. Receipts, bookings, and conversations are in German, there's no way around it.

Plain talk about the title: You will build this yourself, from the first booking onwards. Nobody will hand you a finished dataset. We can do it too, we just don't have the time for it.

Responsibilities

• Define what counts as a construction site cost and what is overhead. These rules don't exist today; your decision will be reflected in every number thereafter.
• Every week: Fetch bookings from sevDesk and Lexware and assign them to construction sites.
• Inquire when a line item doesn't fit. With the project manager, with Daniel, with whoever it originates from.
• Every month: Contribution margin per construction site, plus costs not incurred on-site: rework, service calls, office expenses.
• For each line item, ask four questions: Why does this occur? Why can't we save on it? What are the alternatives? What do you recommend?
• Present all of this to Daniel, Metin, and Linus. They will ask questions; "that's just how it is" is not enough.
• Once or twice a month, present one or two figures for the All Hands meeting. High-level; the rest remains within the team.
• What we measure by: After a year, we will know for each construction site what it contributed, reporting will be done on a fixed schedule, and at least one lever will have been pulled that measurably improved the margin.

Qualifications

• German at C2 level or native speaker. This is a strict requirement, not a formality: receipts, bookings, and all conversations are in German.
• You are looking for an internship or a working student position, on-site in Berlin.
• Approximately one year of experience in Finance. Internship or working student positions count. Controlling, FP&A, Accounting, Transaction Services, or Billing.
• You are studying at a reputable university, majoring in Business Administration or a similar field.
• Contribution margin accounting, P&L, cost types. You've got this. We won't teach you the basics here.
• You know what a booking is and can navigate sevDesk and Lexware without someone explaining what a chart of accounts is.
• Proficient in Google Sheets. Formulas, lookups, pivots. We don't use Excel.
• You build a model in such a way that another person can understand it. Assumptions in one place, no hardcoded values in the formula logic.
• You don't have to do the bookkeeping yourself. You need to be able to read it.

What you need to know beforehand: You will build this yourself, from the first booking onwards. Nobody will hand you a finished dataset. We can do it too, we just don't have the time for it. We won't take the work away from you, but we will go through what you've built with you.

We don't care how your model looks or what you build it with. Only that it works. If it works, do it. You will report at least monthly to three founders who will ask questions. Where you work doesn't matter to us, as long as the numbers are in place and you are present for the monthly meeting.

Here's how the application process works: 1. Phone call with Linus, 20 minutes. 2. A work sample: a real month from our numbers, anonymized. You will deliver the contribution margin per construction site and a recommendation, one page. 3. Video call about your work sample; we will have read it beforehand without you. 4. An appointment at our office, two interviewers. 5. A reference, then the offer.
