Internship Fundraising and Campaigning

At GermanZero, we are making Germany climate-neutral – from the ground up. As a non-profit organization, we are driving the implementation of climate neutrality forward together with hundreds of active volunteers: place by place and at the federal level. With our LocalZero network, we support cities and municipalities on their path to climate neutrality. GermanZero is financed by donations. The organization currently has around 40 full-time employees and thrives on the civic engagement of several hundred active volunteers.

Job Description

Are you looking for an internship where you can contribute to climate protection? Would you like to get a taste of the fundraising department of a non-profit organization, enjoy preparing complex topics related to climate and politics in a target-group-oriented manner, and want to accompany the most important campaign season? Great! Then apply as an intern for our fundraising team with a focus on foundation and small donation fundraising! We are looking for a new intern starting September 1st or October 1st, 2026.

Possible Tasks:

• Researching new foundations and funding bodies: You will identify new trends as well as potential foundations, calls for proposals, and tenders that align with our projects and strategic goals, and create overviews of their funding criteria and focus areas.

• Campaign planning & implementation: You will support the content and design implementation for fundraising campaigns, from the initial concept to distribution via mail or social media – especially our Christmas campaign.

• Participation in communication measures & fundraising campaigns: You will support the creation of quarterly updates, newsletters, donation mailings, funding appeals, and special campaigns that reach our supporters and potential funding bodies.

• Creating presentations and project proposals: You will support the conception and design of compelling presentations to win over foundations and funding bodies for our projects.

• Support in editing applications: You will assist in the creation and revision of grant applications, interim and final reports, as well as the documentation of successes and achieved impact.

• Comprehensive insight into digital tools in fundraising: You will gain insights into the use of CRM systems, AI tools & databases, as well as tools for project management and controlling large project initiatives.

• Other topics: If you are eager to explore other fundraising topics, you will have the opportunity to do so at any time in our agile team. We will create a comprehensive internship plan that is perfect for you!

• You are communicative, a good listener, and approach people openly.

• You are structured and work independently, but also recognize your limits and are not afraid to ask for support or feedback in a timely manner.

• You are proficient in writing, have a good eye for detail, and a keen sense for engaging communication.

• You are a good team player, keep track of your tasks, and have an interest in digital tools and software solutions.

• Climate protection is important to you, and you want to inspire others about the topic and make a difference together.

• You want to demonstrate the importance of donations and funding for non-profit organizations.

Important: Unfortunately, we can currently only offer mandatory internships as part of a study program or voluntary engagement on a volunteer basis. The internship is not paid. We are working on being able to pay interns at least an expense allowance in the future. As soon as this is an option, we will update this text here.

Remote work is possible. Ideally, we are looking for someone who lives in Berlin and can be present on-site regularly. We are looking for interns for a period of at least 3 months with 20-30 hours per week.
