Simply Rational is a consulting firm for Decision Science with roots at the Max-Planck-Institut für Bildungsforschung. We help banks and insurance companies make better decisions under risk and uncertainty. Methodically heuristic-based, technically transparent AI, shaped by research around Gerd Gigerenzer.

We are growing, and we are looking for reinforcement at the interface between international top research and top management consulting in the scale-up phase. If you're interested in building something with us, read on.

Aufgaben

You will work directly with Philipp Leipold and Susanne Jung. Sparring partner:in for the management team, not just a background assistant. We are looking for people who want to understand how research, strategy, AI, and practical implementation come together. Six pillars shape your daily routine.

• Market- and customer research. You analyze target segments in banking and insurance, identify decision-makers, and develop use cases for addressing them.
• Briefings and research, KI-based. We work with the latest AI stack that a 5-person consulting firm can have. Manual data collection is over at our place. You ensure that remains the case.
• Content and new channels. You build with us on sales- and marketing materials, evaluate new social media channels, and set them up to work.
• Meeting accompaniment. You sit in customer meetings with the management team, don't just write notes, but think along. Prerequisite: You are travel-ready, even at short notice.
• Product development. You work on our products around transparent AI, knowledge management, and smart management with concrete results.

Qualifikation

You are studying in your master's or at the end of your bachelor's. Which field of study is irrelevant to us: Psychology, Business Administration, Data Science, Communication, or something comparable. What matters is the person, not the degree.

We need:

• KI experience. For Data Science and Behavioral Science, we expect this from your studies. If you come from Business Administration or Communication, you need practical experience with AI tools.
• English negotiation skills. We read research in English, work in an international environment, and some customers speak English too.
• A genuine interest in our topics. Transparent AI, decision-making research, heuristics. Whoever only looks for a placement will have little fun here.
• New curiosity, learning readiness, pragmatism, result orientation. Plus an affinity for scientific questions without getting lost in them.

Benefits

You will be disappointed if you expect:

• Clean org charts with exactly who is responsible for what and when. We update our structures honestly not as quickly as the world changes. Probably that's even good so. We are in the scale-up phase, responsibility shifts monthly, and that's part of the game.
• Packages of tasks that are fixed for six months. Much of what we're working on right now is still emerging. You will tackle themes whose solution path we cannot predefine. What you get: sparring, context, and the trust that you yourself will come up with an answer.
• A workday that can be easily replicated. Tuesday rarely looks like Thursday at our place. Sometimes you sit in a customer meeting with the management team, and other times you spend seven hours concentrated on a pitch. Occasionally, three spontaneous conversations with the CEO are scheduled because something needs to be clarified between door and angel.
• Final answers. We work at the interface of international top research and top management consulting. There, questions are often asked for the first time. Cookbook solutions rarely work here.
• A practice that is written with. We seek people who think along. A clever question at the wrong time is better than a polite nod to the wrong assignment.

• Werkstudent:innen-Stelle als Anschluss. If it fits between the two sides, we will continue after the practice.

Eckdaten

• Dauer: At least 6 months. Preferred internship, voluntary practice with corresponding prior experience possible.
• Arbeitszeit: At least 32 weekly hours.
• Vergütung: €800 per month in the compulsory internship. Minimum wage in the voluntary practice.
• Ort: Hybrid with Munich as an anchor point. You will be on site one to two times a week.
