PRACTICE MANAGER – WHITE CROSS - CITY DOCTORS, PALMERSTON NORTH
Role Type: Full-time permanent (40 hours/week) - The role begins in March 2026.
Location: 22 Victoria Avenue, Palmerston North
Reports to: General Manager

Our Palmerston North clinic at City Doctors offers a unique combination of general practice and urgent care services, providing accessible, high-quality healthcare for patients and whānau 7 days a week. Conveniently located on Victoria Avenue with easy access to public transport and on-site parking, the clinic also features private x-ray, dental, and pharmacy services. From routine check-ups and long-term condition management to urgent medical care and immigration medicals, our friendly and professional team is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient experiences in a warm, welcoming environment.
Role Purpose
The Practice Manager will provide operational leadership for the Palmerston North clinic, ensuring smooth patient flow, financial and administrative management, and high-quality service standards. You will lead and support a team of reception and administrative staff, drive clinic performance, and contribute to clinic growth in line with Tāmaki Health’s strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support reception and admin staff, fostering a positive, high-performing team
- Manage daily clinic operations to ensure smooth patient flow and excellent service
- Oversee financial processes, billing, and reporting to keep the clinic running efficiently
- Drive patient enrolments, monitor performance, and help the clinic achieve its goals
- Handle staff rostering, recruitment, training, and performance appraisals
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and accreditation standards
- Act as a key contact for patients, staff, and internal stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
- Business administration or relevant tertiary qualification
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in healthcare administration, general practice, or urgent care
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills
- Excellent organisational, reporting, and financial skills
- Knowledge of PMS systems (e.g., Medtech, Indici)
- Commitment to equity and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Legal right to work in New Zealand
