International Purchasing and Imports Intern

At Cuby Smart, we design and manufacture IoT devices for energy efficiency and automation.

We are looking for an organized, responsible, and detail-oriented International Purchasing and Imports Intern to support in tracking purchases, international suppliers, and import documentation.

The ideal candidate is a student in a related field, has an interest in Foreign Trade and International Logistics, a functional level of English, and a willingness to learn about import operations and customs compliance in Mexico.

Key Responsibilities

• Research national and international suppliers and request quotations.
• Support communication and follow-up with suppliers in China, the United States, and other countries.
• Prepare comparisons of prices, commercial terms, delivery times, logistics costs, tariffs, and other import expenses.
• Track purchase orders, invoices, payments, production times, shipments, and deliveries.
• Update reports on purchase orders, shipments in transit, estimated arrival dates, and merchandise delivery.
• Support coordination with suppliers, freight forwarders, couriers, carriers, and customs brokers.
• Integrate, review, and organize documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, payment receipts, waybills, and shipping documents.
• Support the organization of customs declarations, value statements, NOM exception letters, and other foreign trade documentation.
• Identify missing documents, errors, or inconsistencies and report them promptly to the area manager.
• Maintain complete, updated, and organized physical and digital files.
• Support the preparation of reports on costs, shipments, deliveries, and import operations.
• Coordinate with the Engineering, Production, Warehouse, and Administration departments.
• Support in the search and initial evaluation of alternative suppliers.

Requirements

• Active student of International Trade, International Business, Logistics, Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Availability to complete on-site professional internships in San Luis Potosí.
• Intermediate English, with the ability to read, understand, and write professional emails.
• Intermediate proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.
• Interest in international purchasing, logistics, foreign trade, and imports.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and provide punctual follow-up.
• Organization, attention to detail, and responsibility.
• Clear communication and willingness to work in a team.

Desirable Requirements

• Basic knowledge of Incoterms.
• Basic knowledge of import documentation and customs processes.
• Familiarity with NOMs, non-tariff regulations, and foreign trade requirements.
• Interest or academic experience in tariff classification, import costs, or international logistics.
• Previous experience in internships, social service, or projects related to purchasing, logistics, or administration.
