Missions

  1. Conduct research missions in quantum information theory, with a particular focus on bosonic quantum systems

  2. Provide supervision and tutoring for students

  3. Contribute to the reputation of Télécom SudParis, Institut Mines-Télécom, and Institut Polytechnique de Paris

Activities

  1. Conduct research activities in quantum information theory

  • Study the mathematical and informational properties of bosonic quantum states and channels, with a particular emphasis on non-Gaussian systems.

  • Study and seek to prove quantum entropic inequalities relevant to bosonic quantum information theory, particularly inequalities related to the action of beam splitters and other physically relevant bosonic transformations.

  • Develop new mathematical tools for the analysis of non-Gaussian bosonic states and channels, drawing in particular on methods from quantum information theory, matrix and operator analysis, majorization theory, and related fields.

  • Apply these results to characterize information transmission through bosonic quantum channels, particularly for establishing capacity formulas and upper or lower bounds on communication capacities.

  • Explore the links between the developed methods and other problems in quantum information theory and mathematical physics.

  • Contribute to the achievement of the scientific objectives and deliverables of the research project.

  • Present and discuss research results within the team and with external collaborators.

  • Prepare scientific publications presenting the results of the research work.

2. Conduct teaching, supervision, and tutoring activities

  • Lead tutorial sessions as part of a quantum information theory course.

  • Prepare and update exercise sheets, solutions, and other pedagogical materials for this course.

  • Supervise student projects and, where applicable, research internships.

  • Contribute to the scientific support of doctoral students and other young researchers working on related topics.

3. Contribute to the reputation of Télécom SudParis, Institut Mines-Télécom, and Institut Polytechnique de Paris

  • Publish research results in peer-reviewed international journals and conference proceedings.

  • Present research results at international conferences, workshops, seminars, and scientific meetings.

  • Participate in scientific collaborations with academic institutions and research centers in France and abroad.

  • Contribute to the scientific animation and visibility of the department and the institution.

4. Miscellaneous Activities

  • Participate in the scientific and academic activities of the department and the institution.

  • Participate in research seminars, project meetings, and other collective scientific activities.

  • Report on the progress and results of the research activities for which he or she is responsible.


Education

  • PhD in physics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or a relevant related field for quantum information theory

  • Research experience in quantum information theory, mathematical physics, quantum communication theory, theoretical quantum optics, or a closely related field

  • Experience with analytical and mathematical approaches applied to quantum information theory problems.

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

  • Solid scientific knowledge in quantum information theory.

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.

  • Knowledge of quantum mechanics and quantum information theory.

  • Knowledge of quantum channels, quantum entropies, and methods from information theory.

  • Knowledge of bosonic quantum systems.

  • Ability to formulate and independently address complex theoretical problems.

  • Excellent scientific communication and writing skills.

Desirable Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Experience in majorization theory, matrix inequalities, or operator inequalities in quantum information

  • Knowledge of non-Gaussian quantum information

  • Experience with quantum communication capacities or related problems in quantum Shannon theory

  • Proficiency or familiarity with symbolic or numerical tools for exploring theoretical problems, such as Python, Mathematica, or MATLAB

Salary indications:

  • Indicative salary range (excluding variable annual bonus): 35,400 - 38,000 euros gross per year, depending on profile and experience (reduced social charges in the public sector).
