Post Doctoral Fellow - 12 month fixed term - School of Mathematics

Applications are invited for a 12-month fixed-term Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Mathematics Department at the University of Auckland.

The research fellow will assist Professor Steven Galbraith with their duties in research in post-quantum cryptography, teaching, and supervision.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant academic community, undertaking high-quality research, contributing to teaching and postgraduate supervision, and participating in departmental service and outreach activities.

Ngā Haepapa Matua | Key Responsibilities (not limited too):

• Research in post-quantum cryptography
• Writing report(s) on the computational assumptions in post-quantum cryptography.
• Writing report(s) on cryptographic protocols in post-quantum cryptography.
• Teaching parts of COMPSCI 727, COMPSCI 225, and/or other courses in discrete mathematics, cryptography, and number theory
• Helping supervise PhD students

This is a full-time (40 hrs per week), 12-month fixed-term role

The remuneration is $90,405 - $95,179 per annum, dependent on skills and experience

He kōrero mōu | About you

We are seeking applicants who have:

Essential Skills

• PhD in Mathematics or Computer Science
• Publications in post-quantum cryptography or a related field
• Experience giving presentations on research

Preferable

• Teaching experience in discrete mathematics and/or computer science
• A broad knowledge of post-quantum cryptography, including lattices and isogenies
• Good writing skills
• Ability to take responsibility and work independently
