Polymer Chemist, Plastics Engineer (w/m/d) - High-Performance Polymers for Medical Technology

For our department Medical Technology at the location Lauf, we are looking for a polymer chemist, plastics engineer (w/m/d) - high-performance polymers for medical technology with the following tasks:
  • You characterize the physical and chemical properties of high-performance polymers and their influence on mechanical and biological performance.
  • Your task area includes the investigation of the relationship between chemical structure, morphology, and mechanical behavior of different high-performance polymers.
  • You analyze polymer surfaces and develop post-processing procedures to achieve specific properties (wear protection, hardness, osseointegration etc.).
  • You plan test programs with external partners, are responsible for correct sample preparation, and document the test results according to medical standards.
  • You support technically in approval procedures and customer projects related to high-performance polymers.

Your Profile:

  • You hold a successfully completed degree in polymer chemistry, plastics technology, chemical engineering or comparable qualification.
  • Fundamental knowledge of synthesis, characterization, and modification of high-performance polymers brings you with, as well as experience with analytical methods such as DSC, TGA, FTIR, SEM, AFM, NMR, GPC, and mechanical testing.
  • First experience with stage-gate processes and agile methods is advantageous for you, as well as working in a regulated environment (e.g. ISO 13485).
  • You possess communication and team skills in interdisciplinary project teams and convince through an analytical and structured thinking style, a solution-oriented work approach, and innovative spirit.
  • You have very good knowledge of German and English (C1/C2) that rounds off your profile.
