Job description
The fighter pilot is an officer of the Air and Space Army specialized in piloting military combat aircraft (Rafale, Mirage 2000). He/she executes surveillance, interception, ground support, or escort missions in France as well as in external operations. In addition to tactical flight, he/she ensures mission preparation, strategic analysis, navigation, and contributes to squadron training.
A salary equal between men and women at the same post and hierarchical level.

To start your career as a fighter pilot, the job includes :
- Initial military training for 12 weeks at the Air School in Salon-de-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône).
- Professional training for approximately 3 years
You will follow a paid training :
After passing the entry tests, you are fully integrated into the Air and Space Army's personnel. As such, you benefit from your full salary during the entire training period until obtaining the required certifications to start your career as a fighter pilot.
As a fighter pilot, you execute aerial missions in a fighter squadron on an operational airbase (combat, deterrence, interception, reconnaissance) :
- You prepare the mission on the ground (study of the aeronautical environment, definition of combat tactics, mission briefing) ;
- You pilot the combat aircraft (Rafale or Mirage).
