PHP Developer / IT Specialist for Application Development (m/f/d) | Berlin-Mitte | Full-time

For over 14 years, we at TenMedia have been developing custom software for medium-sized businesses, public authorities, and critical infrastructure operators. Our software runs where failures are not an option: in government agencies, for critical infrastructures, and in the mid-sized business sector.

We are looking for you as an experienced PHP Developer / IT Specialist for Application Development (m/f/d) who wants to be at home in exactly these projects. You will develop new applications from A to Z, take responsibility for ongoing systems, and bring legacy applications up to current standards. Because we operate what we build, your work doesn't end with go-live: you'll see for years what becomes of your code, and real customers use it daily. The position is designed for development, including yours: whoever takes on responsibility grows with us to become a Lead Developer, and in the long term, to a CTO role.

Responsibilities

Your tasks

• You develop diverse custom software
• You implement REST APIs and interfaces to specialized applications and third-party systems
• You take long-term responsibility for ongoing applications: updates, security patches, performance optimization, and monitoring
• You work with a modern stack: Laravel, Livewire, MySQL, Redis, Docker, FrankenPHP and Caddy, Azure/AWS
• You work according to Scrum with DevOps boards, and perform code reviews within the team
• You coordinate directly with our long-term clients

Qualifications

What you bring

• Completed vocational training as an IT Specialist for Application Development, a degree in IT, or a comparable qualification
• At least two years of professional experience in PHP development
• Substantial involvement in at least two PHP software projects that are or have been in productive use
• Very good knowledge of Laravel (Eloquent, Queues, Testing, etc.)
• Experience with at least one JavaScript framework such as Vue.js, React, or Alpine.js
• Confident handling of MySQL and clean database design
• Docker Compose is part of your daily development routine, experience with Kubernetes is a plus
• Experience with Azure or AWS is a plus
• Routine Git workflow with pull requests and code reviews
• Experience with REST APIs and interfaces to third-party systems
• Desire for lifelong learning: new technologies, programming languages, and frameworks
• Reliability, independent working style, and a hands-on mentality
• German language skills at C1 level (the project language with most clients is German)
