Job description
Understanding what drives mitte, how we grow, and what connects us – that's your playing field.
As a People & Culture Generalist (m/f/d), you are part of the operational backbone of our People & Culture function. You ensure that HR operations, onboarding, and recruiting run smoothly at mitte – for a growing HQ team in Berlin and an ever-expanding network of club teams. You report directly to the Head of People & Culture and are the first point of contact for employees on operational people-related questions.
Your goal: reliable, well-functioning people processes that grow with mitte.
Responsibilities
Your tasks:
- HR Operations: You support operational people processes in daily business – from contract creation, master data maintenance, support with preparatory payroll, to general administrative people topics. You ensure accuracy, compliance, and clean documentation.
- People Partner: You are the first point of contact for employees on operational people questions and support them in their daily work with pragmatic, reliable solutions.
- Onboarding: You handle the administrative preparation and support of new employees' onboarding – from contract documents to coordinating the first day of work.
- IT Basics: During onboarding and offboarding, you ensure that hardware and software are ready or returned properly, and you keep an eye on license management – small, but a building block that makes the start and departure of every colleague smooth.
- Recruiting Support: You keep our applicant management system clean and up-to-date, thus ensuring a valuable candidate experience. You support interviews for club roles as well as for working students and interns, and guide them through the process with a good feeling.
- People & Culture Projects: You contribute to projects within the People & Culture team, for example, in the development of new processes, guidelines, or internal communication.
What makes this role special is that…
- you take on responsibility from the start: You are not just a support function but actively shape people processes.
- you get to know two worlds: a growing HQ team in Berlin and a network of hospitality-driven club teams.
- you gain broad people experience: HR Ops, Recruiting, Onboarding, and People Partnering – instead of a single silo.
- you work closely with the People & Culture team: short distances, direct exchange, real learning curve.
Qualifications
What you bring:
- Experience: 1-2 years of professional experience in HR operations, ideally with touchpoints in recruiting, payroll, and onboarding.
- Structured, meticulous way of working: You maintain an overview even with multiple parallel topics and work accurately.
- Strong communication skills: You approach employees and managers openly and communicate clearly.
- Basic legal understanding: You have basic knowledge of German labor law or the willingness to quickly familiarize yourself with it.
- IT affinity: You are comfortable with software, tools, and systems and quickly get acquainted with new applications.
- Languages: Fluent in English; fluent in German, as many people processes are based on German labor law.
- Location: Berlin – on-site at HQ is a requirement.
- Working hours: Full-time or part-time from 30 hours/week possible.
- Contract type: Permanent.
- Company Building: You are eager to actively contribute to building Europe's leading Padel operator.
Benefits
- Become part of a success story: Our goal is clear: to become Europe's largest Padel operator. You are involved from the beginning – with the chance to take on real responsibility and actively shape this vision.
- Central office in the heart of Berlin: A place for productive work and open exchange at eye level. Snacks & drinks are provided, of course.
- Modern equipment: You will work with a MacBook and everything you need to be productive.
- Compensation: A competitive salary with long-term development prospects.
- Sports & Wellbeing: With us, you get regular Padel matches on our courts – for your physical balance and well-being outside of work.
What makes this role special
- Startup experience first-hand: In this role, you will experience up close what it means to build a company from the ground up – with all that entails.
- Freedom to shape with responsibility: You will take on your own projects, contribute ideas, and can make a visible impact from day one.
- Growth with perspective: The role is the entry point – not the destination. You will get the chance to grow into a responsible position and develop together with the startup.
If you are eager to build an ambitious sports brand from the ground up, combine a hands-on mentality with creative energy, and are looking for a role with purpose, drive, and team spirit, then we look forward to receiving your application!
