Part-time Mail Carrier

A job with more freedom than that of a mail carrier? There isn't one. As a mail carrier, you work independently in your own neighborhood and you decide your working hours every day. Picking up the (grand)children from school in between, exercising, or taking an exam? Perfectly fine!

This is what your workday as a mail carrier looks like:

• You start by picking up the mail at the depot in your neighborhood. The mail is ready and you only need to put it in your bicycle bags: everything is neatly sorted by street and house number. What time do you pick up the mail? That's up to you, as long as it's before 3:00 PM.
• Then you cycle and walk your route. Right in your own neighborhood. And at the times that suit you best. As long as the mail is stored safely, you can easily exercise or have dinner in between. As long as all mail is in the mailboxes by 6:00 PM at the latest.

Extra nice about being a mail carrier: You work independently, but you never feel alone. You quickly become a familiar face in the neighborhood and build nice relationships with residents and colleagues. And because you're actively engaged, you'll unknowingly work on improving your fitness!

Anyone from 16 years old can become a mail carrier. You are aware that you are the business card of PostNL. You therefore work accurately and are customer-oriented. Additionally:

• You are available for at least 7 months.
• You are fit enough to walk and cycle for a few hours through your neighborhood and lift mailbags weighing up to 23 kilos.
• You have a sturdy bicycle with a metal luggage rack.
• You speak Dutch or English well. This is to communicate with your colleagues and supervisor.
• You have a smartphone to use during your work.
• You are flexible to walk different neighborhoods. You don't always have a fixed route.
• If you start working with us, you will need a Certificate of Conduct (VOG). Of course, this will be reimbursed.

We offer you a varied job that you can fully tailor to your private life. You start with a contract for 7 months, with the possibility of extension. Whatever you choose, you can count on:

• On top of your salary, you get 8% holiday pay, which we pay out monthly.
• You get four weeks of vacation per year.
• You build up a pension (from 18 years old).
• You can work more hours in consultation and you will be paid for your overtime or can take it as time off.
• You will receive a reimbursement of up to € 26.20 per month for the use of your smartphone, incurred expenses, and bicycle maintenance (depending on the number of hours you work).
• Depending on PostNL's business results, you may receive an annual performance-related bonus that can amount to up to 3% of your annual salary.
