Park and Sports Field Operator (5) (SS.26.21)

Position Description: The successful incumbent will: Sports Fields: Maintain and perform all official sports field dimensions for baseball diamonds, soccer pitches, bowling green etc., as well as proper lining and grooming procedures and requirements for safe playable surfaces; maintain and clean outdoor sports facilities including players’ benches, backstops, fence lines and under bleachers while being attentive of scheduled tournaments and fulfilling requirements for set-up; carry out assigned duties related to the preparation and maintenance of sports fields and associated facilities; perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment and tools used for field maintenance; complete daily inspection reports and ensure compliance with safety regulations; Park Operations: Perform general maintenance duties within parks, including litter pick-up, washroom cleaning, and emptying garbage receptacles; maintain cleanliness and orderliness of park amenities such as picnic tables, benches, and pathways; assist with the set-up and take-down of park events and activities; operate and maintain various pieces of equipment, including but not limited to lawn mowers, weed eaters, and blowers; ensure compliance with all applicable safety procedures and report any hazards or concerns to the supervisor; perform other related duties as required. Qualifications: Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent; experience in grounds maintenance and/or sports field maintenance is considered an asset; ability to operate and maintain equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, and blowers; knowledge of sports field dimensions and maintenance procedures; ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions; good communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions; valid driver's license. Working Conditions: This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions; may be exposed to noise, dust, and fumes; ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs); ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods of time; may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
