Painter - Full-Time/ Permanent

The purpose of a Painter is to apply protective and decorative finishes to surfaces, ensuring buildings, structures, and fittings are both visually appealing and safeguarded against wear, weather, and damage. Painters play a vital role in construction, renovation, and maintenance projects by combining technical skill with aesthetic detail.

• Preparing surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling cracks, and removing old paint or coatings.
• Mixing and matching paints, stains, and varnishes to achieve required colours and finishes.
• Applying paints, varnishes, stains, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
• Covering surfaces with paper, cloth, or protective materials to prevent damage during painting.
• Erecting scaffolding, ladders, and platforms to access work areas safely.
• Applying decorative finishes such as marbling, graining, stencilling, and lettering.
• Inspecting painted surfaces for quality, durability, and compliance with specifications.
• Maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and functional condition.
• Ensuring compliance with workplace safety standards and building codes during all painting activities.
• Collaborating with builders, contractors, and other tradespeople to coordinate painting schedules and project requirements.

Education / Training

• Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (or equivalent trade qualification).

Experience

• Typically 1–2 years of practical experience in residential, commercial, or industrial painting.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare surfaces, mix paints, and apply finishes to required standards.
