Principal Database Engineer

At EXL We're seeking a Principal Database Engineer for the below role. This position requires 2-3 days per week in office in Mexico City. As a Principal Database Engineer, you will be working with the Engineering, Operations, and Data teams to develop, manage, govern, and maintain Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, AWS Documentdb databases. The position requires thorough working knowledge of the Oracle internals, AWS RDS (Oracle) Internals, SQL performance, database performance, capacity planning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of Oracle Database 12c, 19c, and future versions. You will also be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing database solutions using Oracle PL/SQL, Python, and other relevant tools. Additionally, you will work closely with the Data Engineering team to design, develop, test, and implement data pipelines and ETL processes using AWS Glue, Apache Spark, and other relevant tools. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of database administration, including backup and recovery, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. You should also have experience working with cloud-based databases, such as AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, and Azure Database Services. Experience with containerization using Docker is also desirable.
