Job description
Operations & Automation Engineer – Renewable Supply
Permanent position, Full-time · Berlin (HQ)
Our Mission for You
Shape the sustainable energy supply of tomorrow with us – and as an Operations & Automation Engineer, build scalable processes and automation solutions that support trawa's growth. trawa is building Europe's leading B2B platform for clean energy. We combine energy supply, advanced energy management software, and intelligent optimization of consumption and flexibilities so that companies can remain successful in a volatile energy market and accelerate their decarbonization.
As an Operations & Automation Engineer, you will start in Customer Support – not because support is your final destination, but because direct customer contact is the best way to understand where automation makes the biggest difference. You will further develop our AI-powered Ticket Copilot, build the necessary tooling landscape, and gradually expand your sphere of influence to the entire operations area. Your goal: to reduce manual and repetitive tasks and thus make trawa more efficient, faster, and scalable.
As an Operations & Automation Engineer, you will take on the following tasks:
Further Development of the Customer Support Agent: You are the owner of our AI-powered Ticket Copilot – from requirements definition and technical development to integration into our tooling landscape (Velaris, Airtable, HubSpot). You actively drive the automation of ticket assignment, solution suggestions, and customer communication.
Customer Support as a Learning Vehicle: You will personally handle incoming customer inquiries – by phone and email – to gain a deep understanding of recurring problems, edge cases, and process gaps. This knowledge will flow directly into the further development of the agent and the knowledge base.
Ownership of the Tooling Landscape: You will evaluate, implement, and further develop the tools that our Ops team needs – from dedicated ticketing systems to automation platforms. You will identify where current tools reach their limits and drive the introduction of alternatives.
Automation in the Entire Ops Area: Customer support is the beginning. Together with adjacent teams – Finance, Onboarding, Customer Success – you will identify further automation potentials, develop solutions, and thus build up a central automation capability at trawa step by step.
Stakeholder Management & Continuous Iteration: You will work closely with internal teams, gather feedback, prioritize requirements, and ensure that automation solutions are not only built but also used and continuously improved.
The Team
You will be part of our Business Operations Team – which includes functions such as Onboarding, Customer Support, and Customer Success. Together, we work to make processes in the entire operations area more efficient and to use automation where it makes the biggest difference. You will actively shape this path – as a cross-functional role that is close to the problems and develops pragmatic solutions.
Who We Are Looking For:
Fresh from university or with initial relevant experience – a strong technical understanding and the drive to take initiative are more important than professional experience
Technology affinity on another level: You have already worked with automation tools, APIs, AI agents, or similar – or are eager to do so
Strong sense of responsibility and thoroughness: You keep track of every task, prioritize effectively, and deliver reliably
Strong process understanding: You quickly recognize where manual work can be replaced by automation and know how to implement it in a structured way
Excellent communication skills and hands-on mentality: You approach customers and internal teams professionally and with a focus on solutions, and you tackle problems yourself
Resourcefulness and initiative: If you don't know a solution, you'll find it – through research, experimentation, or direct exchange with colleagues
Interest in the complex energy market and willingness to delve into the world of renewable energies
Native-level German and fluent English
Your First 90 Days:
Month 1: You will dive into trawa's ops world – products, processes, tools, and customer contact. You will handle your first own customer inquiries to gain a real understanding of recurring problems and process gaps. At the same time, you will familiarize yourself with the existing Customer Support Agent and understand its current limitations.
Month 2: You will take ownership of the Customer Support Agent and implement initial concrete improvements – in the knowledge base, in the degree of automation, and in tool integration. You will evaluate whether the current tooling landscape can support the target version of the agent and develop a clear roadmap for the next steps.
Month 3 and beyond: You will be responsible for the end-to-end further development of the agent and will have launched initial automations that save the team measurable time. You will look beyond Customer Support, identify the next automation potentials in the ops area, and begin to systematically build trawa's automation capability.
Why Us?
Your Impact: You will actively drive how we automate processes and make the entire operations area more efficient at trawa – a crucial prerequisite for trawa to scale. Your contribution will be directly tangible and measurable.
Office First Culture: Our beautiful office in Berlin Mitte is the heart of our collaboration. We live a culture where we work as a team on-site, learn from each other, and gain momentum – this is very important to us. With flexible working hours within our Office-First culture and 30 days of vacation, we support you – whether for family, personal projects, or relaxation.
Attractive Benefits: In addition to a competitive salary, you will receive meal vouchers, tax-free extras, and an Urban Sports membership.
Personal Development: Work with modern tools and learn from industry experts. We offer you training days, an annual L&D budget, and coaching sessions through Sparrks.
Diversity & Inclusion: Everyone is welcome here – we are committed to an inclusive workplace that values diversity through offerings such as employee and diversity networks. Therefore, we encourage people of different genders, ages, sexual orientations, ethnicities, and physical or neurodiverse diversity to apply.
Ready to Shape the Future?
If you are operationally strong, think technically, and enjoy taking responsibility, then apply now! Even if you don't meet all the requirements 100%: We are open to personalities with potential and passion.
