Job Description

The Central Military Hospital (CMH) in Utrecht is looking for a driven Operational Manager Outpatient Care. Together with your colleague, you will coordinate patient flow and optimize our outpatient care.

Where will you work?
As a civilian employee, you will be employed by the Defense Support Command (DOSCO), the Defense Healthcare Organization (DGO), and you will work at the Central Military Hospital (CMH).
The CMH actively treats active-duty military personnel, with the goal of enabling the patient to perform their physically demanding military profession again after treatment. We distinguish ourselves as a hospital by focusing on the interests of both the patient and the armed forces. This is reflected in short waiting times, guaranteed reception for military and civilian casualties in the emergency hospital (together with UMC Utrecht), operational blood supply, specific military healthcare expertise, deployability advice, and immediately deployable medical specialist capacity. In our hospital, we have time and attention for our patients and for each other. Moreover, the work is varied, and there are many opportunities for further development.
The CMH is a member of the NVZ and works in strategic alliance with UMC Utrecht. The CMH has twelve outpatient clinics, spread across three floors. All specialties are present here, with the exception of geriatrics and pediatrics. The clinics are connected via a front office: an average of four clinics at one large desk.

What will you do?
As Operational Manager Outpatient Care, you are responsible for a part of the outpatient clinics, and your tasks include:
Coordinating patient flow: You maintain an overview of the (planned) staffing and personnel availability within the outpatient care cluster. You organize and lead work meetings, identify bottlenecks, and ensure that care is optimally tailored to the patients' needs.
Ensuring effective personnel deployment: You oversee personnel deployment, maintain the required service level, and ensure the development and optimization of work processes and protocols.
Contributing to the development of outpatient care: You compile key figures, write reports, and participate in project groups to improve care delivery and personnel deployment.
Leading the outpatient care cluster: You (co-)lead the cluster and contribute to the strategic and operational goals of the outpatient clinic.

Job Requirements

Who are you?
You are a true people manager and are familiar with team dynamics. Therefore, you have the necessary management experience within a hospital or healthcare environment.

Education:
o Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work and intellectual level;
o Completed management training;
o A diploma in leadership and organization of outpatient clinics (post-Bachelor's) is a plus.
Experience:
o Extensive experience as a caregiver/medical support staff in a hospital;
o Extensive experience working in an outpatient clinic;
o At least several years of work experience at the level of an outpatient unit in a management position.
Knowledge and Skills:
o Thorough knowledge of outpatient care and the outpatient process;
o Preferably knowledge of relevant laws and regulations and the policy of the Ministry of Defense;
o Skills in applying management tools and instructing and motivating personnel;
o Strong organizational and leadership skills.
