As an NCO Signals Service member in the Army, you are the driving force behind our digital striking power. You ensure that soldiers can always rely on secure, fast, and reliable connections—wherever in the world you are deployed.

What you will do

As an NCO Signals Service member, you will lead a team of soldiers within the Signals Service. You will organize training, prepare exercises, and ensure all systems are ready for deployment. During exercises and missions, you are responsible for the optimal functioning of our military communication and network technology. From radios and satellite systems to complete computer networks: you keep everything running.

In addition, you are the technical point of contact for commanders. You advise on the best connection solutions and provide support for malfunctions or complex technical issues.

Your tasks include:

• Leading a team of soldiers
• Organizing and supervising training and exercises
• Preparing materials and systems for deployment
• Installing and operating communication systems
• Acting as a helpdesk for technical problems
• Maintaining and updating equipment and network systems
• Advising on communication means and techniques

• Leadership from day one: As a non-commissioned officer, you lead a team of soldiers. You develop your leadership skills in practice and gain increasing responsibility within your unit.
• Varied and impactful work: No day is the same. You work at barracks, in command centers, or at mobile locations at home and abroad. With your work, you ensure that our operations are conducted safely and effectively.
• Many development opportunities: You continuously develop yourself through training, technical courses, and growth opportunities within the Signals Service and beyond.
• A close-knit team culture: You work closely with your team and other units. Training together, working together, and achieving successes together: camaraderie is central.

Note: with an MBO 3 diploma, you can be trained as a squad leader in the lower ranks of the Army. You will be made ready for your first position and will enter a phased career. This means you can fill positions that are phased within your branch or service in the lower ranks. If you want to progress to the next position within this career path, additional internal technical training is required.

If you have the ambition to further grow into a regular career path, with opportunities for development towards adjutant? Then you can further develop and train yourself internally over the years and enter a regular career path within the Army. Please note: this classification is generic. Additional requirements may apply depending on your choice of branch or service.

If you possess a VMBO GL/TL diploma, an MBO 4 diploma, or a transition certificate from HAVO 4 to 5? Then you can also start directly with the training for a regular career path. This training is more extensive than the phased variant. You will also start as a squad leader in the lower ranks, but due to the broader training, you are also deployable in positions that are classified within a regular career path.

You will thereby meet the requirements for progression to the upper ranks. By following career development courses and any technical supplementary training, you can then relatively easily make the step to the upper ranks.

Where you will work

After completing your training, you will start working at one of the Army's Signals units. These units are located at various locations in the Netherlands. You will work at barracks, command centers, and mobile posts, both domestically and abroad. You work independently and as part of a team, often with colleagues from other units or international partners. Exercises and deployments are a standard part of your work.
