Bring your knowledge and experience and get back to work on board one of the largest ships of the Royal Netherlands Navy.

As a Non-Commissioned Officer Communications Service, you are part of the Operational Service and are co-responsible for the execution of operational tasks on board. You will work in the Communications Service team and are responsible for sending, receiving, and streamlining information in network and communication systems. You are responsible for preparing and setting up available connections, sending messages, and monitoring connection security. In addition, you will assist the Network Manager by directing operators. Note: Upon appointment, you will be placed on HNLMS Karel Doorman. If the position there is already filled, you will be given a comparable position on another ship of the Royal Netherlands Navy.

Where you will work

Training Block

Before you start, you will follow a number of training courses at the naval base in Den Helder. Which courses you follow depends on your knowledge and experience and what is needed for the function.

It is possible that you will follow an EVC process. This means that your knowledge and skills based on previously acquired competencies (EVC - Erkenning Verworven Competenties) will be assessed. This process may be necessary if it is not clear from your completed education and/or work experience whether your knowledge and experience align with the function.

In addition to your technical work on board, you are also a military member and you carry out the associated tasks. Therefore, quite a lot is expected of you, but that is precisely what makes the function so attractive. You are not looking for a routine office job in ICT or communication, but prefer to sail the wide world on board HNLMS Karel Doorman.
