As a Non-Commissioned Officer Sensor Operator (MBO3), you will use the MQ-9 Reaper as your eyes in the sky, providing important combat support together with the pilots of the MQ-9 Reaper. Your role? Gathering intelligence using sensors and the latest technology. Can you already see yourself behind the controls operating the MQ-9 Reaper from Leeuwarden Air Base over mission areas? What you will do

As a Non-Commissioned Officer Sensor Operator, you are responsible for operating the modern camera of the MQ-9 Reaper, but you also perform other tasks within your crew and squadron. For example, you are directly involved in flight operations and support the pilot of the MQ-9 Reaper with positioning, communication, and emergencies. After each flight, you review if there are any points for improvement and discuss them.

Together with the pilot of the MQ-9 Reaper, who sits next to you in the ‘Ground Control Station’, you will carry out various missions. These missions focus on analysis and intelligence, with which you provide support to, for example, ground troops in combat situations. You will operate the MQ-9 Reaper from Leeuwarden Air Base, but the missions primarily take place abroad. Furthermore, deployment in national tasks is also not unthinkable. The MQ-9 Reaper is therefore truly ‘deployable worldwide’.

Where you will work

You will be stationed at Leeuwarden Air Base with the 306 Squadron of the Royal Netherlands Air Force. From the ‘Ground Control Station’, you will primarily operate the camera of the MQ-9 Reaper, but you will be involved in other tasks within your crew or squadron.

Before you start working, you will first follow the military basic training at the Royal Air Education and Training Center (RAETC) in Woensdrecht and an additional technical training. After this, you will proceed to the Sensor Operator training in Holloman, USA.
