Introductory text

Excel holds no secrets for you, you are a whiz with numbers and you see yourself in an administrative job. You are a team player, but you also possess a high degree of independence, showing initiative and acting proactively. You just don't want to sit in an office all day… Good news! With (at least) a VMBO GL diploma in hand, you can apply as a Junior Officer Military Administration in the Royal Netherlands Army. An office job, but you will also participate in exercises and deployments.

What you will do

As a Junior Officer Military Administration in the Army, you will work within the Logistics field. You will be the commander's right-hand person and focus on administrative matters in the areas of HR, finance, operations, and secretarial work. For example, you will ensure that soldiers' exercise allowances are paid on time. In addition to supporting the commander, you can also be deployed for general military tasks, such as operating in your unit's command post.

With an MBO 3 diploma, you can be trained as a squad leader in the lower ranks of the Army. You will be made proficient for your first role and enter a phased career. This means you can fulfill roles that are phased within your branch or service in the lower ranks. If you want to progress to the next role within this career path, additional internal technical training is required.

If you have the ambition to progress further to a regular career path, with opportunities for development towards adjutant? Then you can continue to develop and train internally over the years, and enter a regular career path within the Army.
Please note: this classification is generic. Additional requirements may apply depending on your choice of branch or service.

If you possess a VMBO GL/TL diploma, an MBO 4 diploma, or a bridging certificate from HAVO 4 to 5? Then you can also start directly with the training for a regular career path. This training is more extensive than the phased variant. You will also start as a squad leader in the lower ranks, but due to the broader training, you will also be deployable in roles classified within a regular career path.

You will thus meet the requirements for progression to the upper ranks. By following career training and any technical retraining, you can then relatively easily make the step to the upper ranks.

Note: there are multiple start dates throughout the year. After applying, you will receive a personal application file containing a call-up date. Please note: this is a fictional date and therefore incorrect. The start date for which you are eligible will only be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the outcome of the psychological assessment, the medical examination, and the security screening, which are part of the application process. Once all these parts have been successfully completed, your start date will be discussed and finalized.

Where you will work

You will be assigned to the command group of an (independent) company within one of the Army units in the Netherlands. You will participate in exercises and you should take into account that you may be deployed abroad.

Before you start working, you will first follow the Junior Officer Training at the Royal Military School in Ermelo, where you will learn all basic military skills. Your training will be completed with a Specialized Training at the Defense Training and Education Center Logistics in Soesterberg. After successfully completing your training, you will immediately begin your career as a Junior Officer Military Administration.

The Royal Netherlands Army will take your placement preference into account, but may deviate from the initial placement preference for organizational reasons. The Royal Netherlands Army will inform you about your actual placement during the Technical Training.
